A waterproof intermediate spliced portion of wires includes an intermediate spliced portion of the wires, waterproofing agent supplied to the intermediate spliced portion and cured, and a protective sheet for covering around the waterproofing agent supplied to the intermediate spliced portion. The protective sheet has flexibility capable of being deformed following the deformation of the surface of the waterproofing agent supplied to the intermediate spliced portion and covers the waterproofing agent in a state held in close contact with the surface of the waterproofing agent.

Provided is a method for producing a wiring harness including a sealing member having higher airtightness, the method including a coat formation step of forming a coat of a composition solution by providing the composition solution that contains at least a photo polymerization initiator, a thermal radical polymerization initiator, and a polymerizable compound to an exposed bunched portion and a coated bunched portion that is adjacent to the exposed bunched portion of the bunch of electric wires, and a curing step of irradiating the coat formed on the exposed bunched portion and the adjacent coated bunched portion with light to photocure the coat and to thermally cure the coat by heat of the photocure and heat of collected light.

A coated glass fiber for light transmission consisting of a glass fiber for light transmission and at least one coating layer made of a UV-curing resin, wherein an outermost layer of the coating layer is made of a UV-curing resin having a Young's modulus of at least 100 kg/mm.sup.2 and a change of a cure shrinkage degree of 1% or less after a Young's modulus reaches one tenth of an end Young's modulus, which has good lateral pressure characteristics and low transmission loss.

Optical glass fiber

Coated optical fiber and fabrication process therefor

The invention relates to coating composition, coated articles of manufacture, and to the formation of the coated articles. The coating is an energy-beam set resin containing fluid containing heat-expandable, fluid-encapsulating hollow spheres in the resin. The coating of a substrate, such as a communication line material, is accomplished by coating the material with a resin mixture containing expandable spheres and then exposing the coated material to an energy-beam source for a period of time to cure the resin and expand the spheres. The coating is applied to at least one filament of a communication line material. Such filaments can be gathered into bundles which are first extrusion coated with a thermoplastic polymer before being coated with the resin mixture. The composition of the resin material can be varied by changing the volume percent of the hollow spheres present in the resin mixture.

Communication line material

The invention relates to coating composition, coated articles of manufacture, and to the formation of the coated articles. The coating is an energy-beam set resin containing fluid containing heat- expandable, fluid-encapsulating hollow spheres in the resin. The coating of a substrate, such as a communication line material, is accomplished by coating the material with a resin mixture containing expandable spheres and then exposing the coated material to an energy-beam source for a period of time to cure the resin and expand the spheres. The coating is applied to at least one filament of a communication line material. A light transmitting optical fiber having at least one coating layer of an ultraviolet curing resin on an outer surface of the fiber, in which the ultraviolet curing resin used in an outermost layer has a Young's modulus of at least 100 kg/mm.sup.2 and an elongation of at least 30%.

Light transmitting glass fiber

A process for producing an insulated electric wire, comprising the steps of coating around a conductor an energy radiation curable resin composition having heat expansible microspheres incorporated therein, and curing the energy radiation curable resin composition thus coating on the conductor by exposure to an energy radiation. The process also comprises the step of heating the energy radiation curable resin composition to expand the heat expansible microspheres in the energy radiation curable resin composition, thereby forming a high-porosity insulation layer on the conductor. An insulated electric wire comprises a conductor; an energy radiation curable resin composition layer having microspheres incorporated therein and surrounding the conductor, the outside diameter of the microspheres in the energy radiation curable resin composition layer being maximum in the vicinity of the conductor and decreasing gradually toward the periphery of the energy radiation curable resin composition layer.

Insulated electric wire

A process for producing an insulated electric wire, comprising the steps of coating around a conductor an energy radiation curable resin composition having heat expansible microspheres incorporated therein, and curing the energy radiation curable resin composition thus coated on the conductor by exposure to an energy radiation. The process also comprises the step of heating the energy radiation curable resin composition to expand the heat expansible microspheres in the energy radiaiton curable resin composition, thereby forming a high-porosity insulation layer on the conductor. An insulated electric wire comprises a conductor; an energy radiation curable resin composition layer having microspheres incorporated therein and surrounding the conductor, the outside diameter of the microspheres in the energy radiation curable resin composition layer being maximum in the vicinity of the conductor and decreasing gradually toward the periphery of the energy radiation curable resin composition layer.

Insulated electric wire and process for producing the same

This invention relates to a novel coating structure composed of a mixture of an energy irradiation curable resin composition and microspheres, which is used to form a thinfilm coating on a small diameter conductor, thus producing an insulated conductor which has low capacitance obtained in spite of the thin-film coating, has very little variation in capacitance due to the manufacturing process, has a smooth coating layer, and can be manufactured quickly.

Insulated conductor and method of producing the same
