To provide a novel substance having an excellent water-dispersibility capable of forming an emulsion which spreads rapidly onto the skin, does not undergo aggregation or segregation due to a salt, and is excellent in a low temperature stability. The aforementioned problems were found to be solved by means of a certain polysaccharide and the invention was established.

Encapsulated oil-in-water type emulsion compositions, which comprise an acylamino acid alkylamide or an acylglutamine alkyl ester, an oily base, a polar solvent and water, do no exhibit coalescence of the dispersed phase, and can be produced by a simple method without resort to a special apparatus, are excellent in stability with time, do not impart an uncomfortable feeling during application, are excellent in a sensory feeling that satisfies both a moisturizing feeling and an emollient feeling, and are excellent in appearance.

Encapsulated oil-in-water type emulsion composition

Provided is a novel oily material that spreads smoothly upon application and is free from stickiness, and also gives ungreasy and moisturized feeling after application, but does not give friction feeling peculiar to silicone. The invention was completed upon finding that a specific acyl acidic amino acid monosilicone monosterol ester can solve the foregoing problems.

When applied to skin, the resulting gels have a good feeling, good spreadability, and good fittability to skin.

Method for preparing N-long chain acyl neutral amino acid

Provided is an industrially advantageous process for producing an N-long chain acyl acidic amino acid by condensing an acidic amino acid with a long chain fatty acid halide in water in the presence of an alkali, wherein the reaction is performed in the presence of a polyhydric alcohol. The desired product is obtained in a high yield without the problems of odor and of safety owing to organic solvents and catalyst remaining in the desired product. The equipment for removal of the solvents is reduced, and production is simplified.

Process for producing N-long-chain acyl acidic amino acids or salts

N-long-chain acyl acidic amino acids or salts thereof are prepared by condensing an acidic amino acid or a salt thereof and a C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 long-chain fatty acid chloride in an aqueous solvent with stirring at a stirring power of not less than 0.2 kW/m.sup.3 while keeping the pH in the range of 10-13.

The present invention relates to N-long chain acyl neutral amino acid esters of the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X represents an ester-forming residue of a sterol; COR represents a long chain acyl group having 8 to 22 carbon atoms; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are identical or different from each other, each represents a hydrogen atom or a straight chain or branched alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together form an alkylene group; and n represents 0, 1 or 2. The compounds are particularly useful in cosmetic or pharmaceutical preparations for external use.
