A sharp image is formed without variation in ink spreading around an outer periphery of a print-required region depending on a printing direction. At the time of printing an image by scanning a print medium with a print head for ejecting a first ink which is visible as black and has relatively high permeation properties of penetrating the print medium and a second ink having relatively low permeation properties, a printing apparatus uses the second ink to print on at least an edge area of the print-required region of the print medium, and the first ink to print on a non-edge area surrounded by the edge area. The print head comprises a first nozzle array ejecting the first ink and second nozzle arrays ejecting the second ink. The second nozzle arrays are arranged on opposite sides of the first nozzle array in the scan direction.

Inkjet printing apparatus and printing method

The present invention provides complementary recording in that when a defective nozzle is generated, recording is performed by other normal nozzles. According to the present invention, a mask pattern used for multipath recording, which completes an image by multiple scannings with a recording head, is rewritten when a defective nozzle is generated. Rewriting mask data is produced in a CPU register, and the mask pattern is rewritten by repeating the produced mask data. According to the present invention, it is not necessary to prepare mask data by assuming a defective nozzle in advance, so that high speed complementary recording processing can be performed with simple configuration.

Ink jet recording apparatus and method of controlling the same for complementary recording

A printer includes an ink jet head, a recovery unit, a moving unit, a conveying unit and a cover. The ink jet head performs printing on a printing medium and has an ink ejection port on an ejection port forming surface. The recovery unit is used for a recovery process for maintaining an ink ejection state of the ink jet head in a good condition. The recovery unit includes a cap for covering the ejection port forming surface, a wiping member for wiping the ejection port forming surface, and an absorbing member for receiving ink ejected from the ejection port of the ink jet head. The moving unit moves the recovery unit to a position where the recovery unit faces the ink jet head and to a position where the recovery unit does not face the ink jet head, the ejection forming surface of which is oriented toward the printing medium. The conveying unit conveys the printing medium to be printed by the ink jet head. The cover contains the ink jet head and the recovery unit. The cover is arranged to be opened so that a conveying path of the conveying unit appears and to be closed to cover the conveying path.

Recovering apparatus for recovering a status of an ink jet recording head

In a recovering apparatus for recovering ink ejecting ports forming a plane of an ink jet head, an ink absorbing member is disposed inward of a cap and proximate to the ink ejecting ports, facing the ink ejecting ports at a predetermined distance therefrom. Large ink droplets or water droplets adhering to the ink ejecting ports are then absorbed in the absorbing member. Thereafter, the plane of the ink jet heads with the ink ejecting ports is cleanly wiped by a wiping member, thereby preventing scattering of ink droplets or water droplets away from the ink ejecting ports. A trough is located adjacent to each head, and the recovering apparatus is disposed with respect to the trough so that a distance between the recovering apparatus and the ink jet head can be reduced, thereby permitting a compact arrangement of the recovering apparatus and the ink jet head.

An ink jet printer comprises a wiper member for wiping the surface of the ink jet recording head. The ink jet recording head and the wiper member move in the same direction each other to wipe the surface of the ink jet recording head by one operation. In this way, the stabilized wiping is always possible to keep the head surface in an appropriate condition of ink discharges, hence obtaining images in beautiful print quality with the stable ink discharges.

Ink jet printer provided with an improved cleaning unit

A label printer performs recording on a roll label comprising a number of label sheets bonded in succession on a release sheet. The printer utilizes an ink jet method to attain a smaller size and to print information accurately. The printer comprises a conveyance section for conveying the label roll to an ink jet print head, an ink supply section for supplying ink to the head, and a recovery unit for making the head performance stable. A conveyance surface of the label roll is made substantially horizontal, with the ink jet print head and the recovery unit disposed above the surface and the ink supply section disposed underneath the surface.

Printer and printing method

A printing medium feeding apparatus comprises a conveying belt, on which a roll-shaped printing medium is placed with the lower surface of the roll being in contact therewith to unwind the outer periphery of the roll. With the arrangement, setup of the roll to the feeding apparatus is completed easily by only placing the roll onto the conveying belt, as compared with a construction in which the center of a roll is rotatably supported. It is also possible to omit or simplify a transmission mechanism such as a train of reduction gears that is necessary for the case of central driving. Further, it is also possible to feed a constant amount of length at a constant drive speed irrespective of radius of the roll.

A liquid jet recording apparatus is structured to enable recording liquid to circulate by conductively connecting the recording head for discharging recording liquid and means for retaining recording liquid through a forwarding path for recording liquid to flow into the head and a returning path for recording liquid to flow out from the head. This apparatus comprises means for generating pressure to suck recording liquid on the returning path from the head, while exerting pressure on recording liquid in the forwarding path toward the head. In this way, dust particles and air bubbles in ink are removed without allowing ink to flow out of the discharge ports of the recording head so as to save the consumption of ink to be used wastefully when a recovery operation is executed for the apparatus.

Liquid jet recording apparatus and recovery method therefor

A recording apparatus includes conveying means for conveying a recording medium, a platen for conveying and supporting the recording medium and an ink sheet, recording means for pressing the recording medium and ink sheet to the platen and heating the ink sheet to record images the recording medium. This ink sheet has a first guiding member and a second guiding member which are bonded, respectively, to both ends of the ink sheet. The first and second guiding member bonded to both ends of the ink sheet substitute for a winding reel and supply reel. Therefore, these reels are no longer needed to make it possible to reduce the parts numbers, and implement the use of inexpensive materials.
