An ultrasonic motor has a vibrating body and a piezoelectric element disposed on the vibrating body for generating a vibration wave to vibrate the vibrating body. The vibration wave has a vibration node disposed on a diagonal line of the vibrating body. At least one protrusion is connected to the vibrating body for vibration therewith. The protrusion is disposed on the vibrating body at a position which does not correspond to the position of the vibration node. A moving body is disposed in contact with and driven by the protrusion during vibration thereof.

In an electrostatic acceleration type ink jet recording apparatus, when a voltage is preliminarily applied to ink to adjust the width of ink raises, a dedicated drive circuit has been necessary or dedicated electrodes have been necessary for forming the ink raises. According to a recording apparatus of the present invention, machining such as chamfering or steps is provided to a support body having a slit-like opening portion or, alternatively, a surface treatment such as coating an oil repellent solvent to a portion to be machined. Due to such a constitution, the width of the ink raises in the lateral direction of the opening portions can be made constant without using a method such as an electric driving so that a stable printing of dots is ensured. Further, by increasing the ink raise width in the vicinity of a central portion of the opening portion than at end portions of the opening portion, it becomes possible to prevent the diameter of dots to be printed from becoming non-uniform in the longitudinal direction of the opening portion.

Recording head and image recording apparatus utilizing said recording head

A recording head has a head portion having a common electrode, an ink chamber for storing ink, and an ink ejection port. A counter electrode is disposed opposite to and spaced-apart from the common electrode and proximate the ink ejection port of the head portion to form a gap between the counter electrode and the ink ejection port for receiving a recording medium. The counter electrode has recording electrodes extending generally perpendicular to a lengthwise direction of the common electrode. A power source applies a voltage between the common electrode and the counter electrode to generate an electric field therebetween. A control circuit independently controls the voltage applied to each of the recording electrodes to generate an electrostatic force for electrically charging the ink disposed in the ink chamber so that the electrically charged ink flows from the ink chamber, is ejected through the ejection port, and is outputted onto the recording medium.

Recording head and image recording apparatus utilizing the recording head

In an ink jet recording head for an ink jet recording apparatus, insulating members are arranged between adjacent ones of a plurality of recording electrodes so that electric discharge is made less likely to occur across the recording electrodes. Thus, even where the density of the recording electrodes in the head is set high in order to achieve high resolution, ink can be stably jetted. Further, the ink can be supplied to the front end of the head without increasing a static pressure which acts on the ink in such a manner that the insulating members are disposed only in the vicinities of the front ends of the recording electrodes while the discharge withstand voltage across the adjacent recording electrodes is increased.

Ink jet recording head, and ink jet recording apparatus employing the same

A piezoelectric actuator has a base and a movable body disposed over a surface of the base for undergoing movement relative thereto. The movable body has a frame and at least one cantilever having a first end integrally connected to the frame and a second free end. A piezoelectric element is disposed on the cantilever for undergoing expansion and contraction movement in response to application of an alternating voltage to bring the second free end of the cantilever into and out of contact with the surface of the base to thereby move the movable body relative to the surface of the base. Spring members are connected to the frame of the movable body for regulating a direction of movement of the movable body relative to the surface of the base.

An inkjet recording apparatus comprises an inkjet recording device for discharging recording ink according to a recording signal and for recording on a recording medium, and a coating device for coating a coating material on the recording medium prior to recording by the inkjet recording device. The inkjet recording device comprises at least one first orifice for discharging the recording ink on the recording medium, a first passage in communication with the first orifice for receiving a supply of the recording ink, and a first heating device for heating the recording ink supplied to the first passage. The coating device has at least one second orifice for discharging the coating material on the recording medium, a second passage in communication with the second orifice for receiving a supply of the coating material, and a second heating device for heating the coating material supplied to the second passage.

By manipulating a relative potential relationship of potentials by voltages applied to selected electrodes, nonselected electrodes and an opposed electrode,among a plurality of record electrodes,through,installed at vicinities of an opening portion,of a head, ink is injected, printing of high resolution is made possible and by using a dispersing type ink and changing polarities of the voltages applied to the opposed electrode,and the record electrodes, density of injected ink is made variable.

Ink recording head and ink injecting method using ink recording head

A recording unit has an illuminating device for projecting light on an original to form an original image, and an optical device which focuses the original image formed by the illuminating device. A light control plate has a slit for allowing a portion of the original image focused by the optical device to pass through. The light which passes through the slit of the light control plate is guided onto a print head which ejects ink on a recording medium when exposed to the light.

Recording systems and recording units employed in the recording systems

An image reading device includes an image reading device, a video memory for reading the read image and a device for controlling the reading frequency, when the video data recorded in the video memory are repeated read, so that the reading frequency will be equal to the scanning frequency of the television signals. The image read by the line sensor may be converted in this manner into video signals by a simplified operation.

Image reading device

According to a first feature of the present invention, an image reading apparatus is disclosed in which image data read from an image document by an imaging reading device are called into an image memory. An output signal from a character generator for generating a character in the form of an indicator is superimposed on the image data to provide a display signal. Any desired portion of the image data displayed on a display device is indicated by the character in the form of the indicator, that is a so-called pointer. According to a second feature, the display position of the character is moved in synchronism with shifting of the data reading region from the image memory or so-called scrolling to prevent the character display position from being deviated with respect to the contents of the displayed image.

In a printing apparatus, a relatively long film having a photosensitive surface composed of photosensitive microcapsules is withdrawn from a supply spool and selectively exposed to light to form a photographed film frame prior to being passed through a nip between urged-together press rollers and then wound onto a take-up spool, sheets of developing paper are delivered one at a time by a paper supply roller from a stack of the sheets for passage between the press rollers with each delivered sheet facing a respective exposed area of the film so as to be pressed together therewith, and a roller drive assembly including a first reversible motor operative in first and second directions in printing and rewinding modes, respectively, a first transmission including a first one-way clutch through which the first motor drives the paper supply roller means only when the first motor operates in the first direction in the printing mode, a second transmission including a second one-way clutch through which the supply spool is rotated in a direction to rewind the film only when the first motor operates in the second direction in the rewinding mode, and a second reversible motor operative in first and second directions for driving the press rollers in corresponding first and second directions in the printing and rewinding modes, respectively.

A printer for printing a certain image on a sheet of developing paper

In an apparatus for developing a picture on a sheet of developing paper from an exposed sheet of photo-sensitive material by pressing together the sheets of developing paper and photo-sensitive material, and in which such sheets in contact with each other are intermittently transported in a predetermined direction of sheet travel across a back-up surface, and a rotatable roller having its axis of rotation extending substantially at right angles to a longitudinal median of the back-up surface is transported relative to the back-up surface in directions parallel to the longitudinal median thereof while the roller is urged toward the back-up surface with the sheets of developing paper and photo-sensitive material therebetween so as to be pressed together at a relatively narrow stripe-like area defined by the rolling path of the peripheral surface of the roller; standby surfaces extend from the opposite ends of the back-up surface and are raised relative to the latter for defining shoulders therebetween by which the sheets are guided in being transported across the back-up surface, and the roller is situated on one of the standby surfaces during the transporting of the sheets and, when the sheets are at rest, the roller moves from one to the other of the standby surfaces and rolls smoothly across the contacting sheets therebetween.
