An image processing apparatus, includes: a first storage unit configured to store first correction data reducing brightness unevenness corresponding to a first gradation value; a second storage unit configured to store second correction data reducing brightness unevenness corresponding to a second gradation value which is lower than the first gradation value; and a correction unit configured to correct gradation values, which are not less than the first gradation value, of the input image data, in use of at least the first correction data, and corrects gradation values, which are less than the first gradation value, of the input image data, in use of at least the second correction data.

Image processing apparatus and image processing method

For decreasing hardware for correction to compensate for decrease of luminance due to decrease in drive voltage of devices, a plurality of electron-emitting devices are arranged in a matrix pattern and wired by a plurality of row and column lines, a column wiring driving unit applies voltage pulses to the column lines, and row wiring driving units apply voltages to the row lines to switch a row to be selected. The image signal processing unit divides a luminance level of an image signal into plural areas in the signal amplitude direction in response to each split timing signal. There are provided means for detecting frequencies of luminance signals included in the respective amplitude areas, a correction quantity calculating unit for outputting correction signals based on the detected values, and an adding unit for adding the correction signals and luminance signals, which outputs results of addition as electron emission requirements to the column wiring driving unit.

The present invention relates to an image display apparatus for forming an image with a plurality of luminescent spots to be precisely aligned in a matrix. For example, a spacer disposed between an electron source and a face plate causes luminescent spots on the face plate spaced unevenly. The luminescent spots spaced unevenly will produce a visual unevenness in luminance which deteriorates the quality of produced image. By modifying the quantity of light of luminescent spots spaced unevenly, the visual unevenness in luminance is compensated.

An image display apparatus includes a plurality of display devices, a plurality of scan interconnections and a plurality of modulation interconnections, a scanning circuit for applying a scanning signal to the scan interconnections, and a modulation circuit for applying a modulation signal to the modulation interconnections. The scanning circuit applies the scanning signals to a group of scan interconnections selected from the plurality of scan interconnections in one select period, and applies the scanning signals, in a subsequent select period, to the plurality of scanning interconnections which were shifted with one scan interconnection portion from the group of scanning interconnections to which the scanning signals were applied in a previous select period. This invention discloses an arrangement allowing connection of various kinds of image displays to one supply source in an image display control system having a supply source for transmitting a signal including at least a video signal, and an image display for receiving the signal and displaying a corresponding image. The supply source acquires characteristic data of the image display when it is powered on, determines a signal communication specification with the image display based on the acquired characteristic data, and communicates a signal including the video signal with the determined communication specification.
