One or more embodiments of the present invention relate to a flame-retardant fabric that includes modacrylic fibers, regenerated cellulose fibers, and heat-resistant fibers. The regenerated cellulose fibers include one or more regenerated cellulose fibers selected from the group consisting of flame-retardant rayon fibers and lyocell fibers. The heat-resistant fibers include one or more heat-resistant fibers selected from the group consisting of polyoxadiazole fibers and aramid fibers. The flame-retardant fabric includes the modacrylic fibers in an amount of 20 to 76 wt %, the regenerated cellulose fibers in an amount of 11 to 48 wt %, and the heat-resistant fibers in an amount of 6 to 69 wt %. The char length, afterflame time, and afterglow time of the flame-retardant fabric measured using a flammability test in accordance with GB/T 5455-1997 are 100 mm or less, 2 seconds or less, and 4 seconds or less, respectively. Thus, provided are a flame-retardant fabric that has favorable flame retardancy and antimicrobial properties, and protective clothing made of the flame-retardant fabric.

Flame-retardant fabric and protective clothing made of the same

A cloth for mattress including a knitted fabric that is knitted from blended yarns contains flame retardant rayon fibers, modacrylic fibers, polyimide fibers, and low-melting polyester fibers. The cloth for mattress can be obtained by producing blended yarns containing the flame retardant rayon fibers, the modacrylic fibers, the polyimide fibers, and the low-melting polyester fibers, and producing a knitted fabric by knitting the blended yarns. The cloth for mattress has excellent flame retardancy, ensures easy handling when used to cover a mattress, is resistant to pilling without reducing the strength of the blended yarns, and is also safe for contact with the human body.

A fabric for arc-protective garments includes first yarns and second yarns different from the first yarns. The first yarns include first modacrylic fibers, and the first modacrylic fibers contain an infrared absorber in an amount of 2.5 wt % or more with respect to a total weight of the first modacrylic fibers. The weight of the infrared absorber per unit area in the fabric for arc-protective garments is 0.05 oz/ydor more. An arc-protective garment includes the fabric for arc-protective garments.

An arc resistant acrylic fiber includes an acrylic polymer. The arc resistant acrylic fiber also includes an infrared absorber in an amount of 1 wt % to 30 wt % with respect to a total weight of the acrylic polymer.

A flame-retardant fabric may include a cellulosic fiber and a modacrylic fiber, the cellulosic fiber being a natural cellulose fiber containing a phosphorus compound, the modacrylic fiber containing an antimony compound, the flame-retardant fabric including the modacrylic fiber containing the antimony compound in an amount of 14 to 54 wt %, antimony in an amount of not less than 1.7 wt %, and phosphorus in an amount of 0.3 to 1.5 wt % with respect to the total weight of the flame-retardant fabric, and the flame-retardant fabric having a weight per unit area of not less than 160 g/m. The flame-retardant fabric can be produced by subjecting a fabric including a natural cellulose fiber and a modacrylic fiber containing an antimony compound to flame-retardant treatment with a phosphorus compound.
