A data storage device () divides an LAS data file into a plurality of continuous byte ranges by using information obtained by plotting a series of values of LAS data indicated by the LAS data file on a plane with a latitude and longitude as axes, and determines coordinates serving as search keys for the byte range divisions. Here, when dividing the LAS data file, the data storage device () divides the LAS data file so that the LAS data included in a byte range division falls within a predetermined distance from the coordinates serving as the search key for the byte range.
