A data recording and reproducing apparatus has facilities for recording and reproducing, inputting and outputting, and editing data and can perform edits by itself. The data recording and reproducing apparatus records AV data inputted from an input port on HDDs by using a recorder and reproducer, and outputs data reproduced from HDDs by the recorder and reproducer through an output port. In an editor inputted is data inputted from outside and data reproduced by the recorder and reproducer. The editor performs edits on at least either of the data above by using a matrix switcher and an audio mixer provided therein. A special effector is utilized as necessary. The editor can output data obtained through editing processing to a switch.

Data recording and reproducing apparatus and data editing method

A transmitter and receiver for transmitting and receiving a plurality of image data channels as an encoded data stream. The transmitting part comprises a plurality of prefilters for reducing the resolution of each image in the image data channels, a frame memory for sequentially arranging the resolution reduced images output from the prefilters into a full resolution frame, an encoder for encoding the full resolution frame into an encoded data stream, and a transmitter for transmitting the encoded data stream. The receiving part comprises a receiver for receiving the encoded data stream, a decoder for decoding the encoded data stream and sequentially separating the decoded data stream into a plurality of resolution reduced images corresponding to the number of image data channels, and a plurality of postfilters for increasing the resolution of each of the resolution reduced images into full resolution images and outputting the full resolution images as the image data channels.

A video signal transmission apparatus has the encoding means , operative when a predetermined unit of video signal is compressively encoded, for multiplexing identification data unique to this video signal in a user data region within an encoded bit stream, and the storing/decoding means for storing the encoded bit stream data having the unique identification data multiplexed therein, and, when transmission is requested from the outside, for decoding the encoded bit stream data and simultaneously reading the multiplexed unique identification data to verify whether it is unique identification data of a video signal to be transmitted.
