In a double heat exchange, a radiator and a condenser are integrated through a side plate for reinforcing the radiator and the condenser, and a longitudinal dimension of condenser tubes is made smaller than a longitudinal dimension of radiator tubes. Therefore, a core area of the condenser becomes smaller than that of the radiator. Thus, heat-exchanging capacity of the condenser is restricted from being increased more than a necessary capacity, and size and performance of the double heat exchanger are restricted from being increased more than necessary conditions.

Double heat exchanger

A corrugated fin for a double heat exchanger having a condenser and a radiator integrally includes a condenser fin and a radiator fin. Each of the condenser fin and the radiator fin has plural bent portions and plural flat portions each of which connects adjacent bent portions. A louver-forming processing amount of the flat portion of the condenser fin is set smaller than that of the flat portion of the radiator fin. Plural dimple-shaped plastically deformed portions are formed in the flat portion of the condenser fin, so that a whole processing amount of the condenser fin becomes substantially equal to that of the radiator fin. As a result, a radius of curvature of each bent portion of the condenser fin is substantially equal to that of the radiator fin, and the integrated fin is restricted from being deformed.

Corrugated fin for heat exchanger

A radiator has plural metal tubes and a metal header tank. The header tank has plural connection portions each of which is connected to each of the tubes, and plural reinforcement ribs formed opposite the connection portions at a non-connection portion of the header tank to which no tube is connected. The reinforcement ribs and the connection portions are arranged in a longitudinal direction of the header tank at substantially the same pitch, so that each of the reinforcement ribs is disposed opposite each of the connection portions. Therefore, a rigidity of the non-connection portion is increased by the reinforcement ribs, and an internal pressure of the header tank is restricted from being intensively applied to the non-connection portion. As a result, a mechanical strength of the header tank is sufficiently increased without increasing a thickness of a metal plate from which the header tank is formed.

Heat exchanger having header tank

A double heat exchanger includes a condenser having a condenser core and a condenser header tank, and a radiator having a radiator core and a radiator header tank. The condenser header tank is composed of a core plate having clamping portions and a tank portion having protruding portions. The protruding portions of the tank portion are clamped by the clamping portions of the core plate so that the tank portion is connected to the core plate in the condenser header tank. The protruding portions of the condenser header tank contacts the radiator header tank, thereby preventing the condenser and radiator header tanks from being inclined toward each other. Therefore, the condenser and radiator header tanks contact and are brazed to each other in a relatively small area. As a result, heat conduction from the radiator to the condenser is prevented, and heat exchange performance of the condenser can be improved.

Double heat exchanger having condenser core and radiator core

A heat exchanger has plural tubes and a header tank communicating with each tube. The tank has an opening through which coolant is introduced, and an elevated portion formed in the vicinity of the opening by elevating a wall of the tank outwardly, so that a dimension of the tank including the elevated portion becomes larger than a dimension of the tank excluding the elevated portion in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the tank. As a result, a volume and a sectional area of the tank in the vicinity of the opening are increased, thereby decreasing pressure loss of coolant flowing into the tank. Therefore, even when a size of the tank is reduced to reduce a size of the heat exchanger, pressure loss of coolant flowing into the tank is restricted from increasing.

Heat exchanger having header tank increased in volume in the vicinity of pipe connected thereto

A heat exchanger has a condenser having a condenser tank and a radiator having a radiator tank. An end of the condenser tank in a longitudinal direction thereof is closed by a condenser tank cap, and an end of the radiator tank in a longitudinal direction thereof is closed by a radiator tank cap. A bracket through which the heat exchanger is mounted to a vehicle is secured to the end of the radiator tank in the longitudinal direction thereof so that a cavity is formed between the radiator tank cap and the bracket. As a result, heat is restricted from being transmitted from the radiator tank to the bracket. Therefore, heat is restricted from being transmitted from the radiator to the condenser through the bracket to maintain heat exchange performance of the condenser.

Heat exchanger with heat insulating member disposed between condenser and radiator tanks

A ratio (Nc/Lc), in a condenser core portion, of the number of louvers to a width of a condenser cooling fin, and a ratio (Nr/Lr), in a radiator core portion, of the number of louvers to a width of a radiator cooling fin satisfy that the ratio in one core portion, out of the condenser and the radiator core portions, a required radiation amount of which is larger than that of the other core portion is larger than the ratio in the other core portion. Thus, in the core portion having a small required radiation amount, the number of louvers relative to the width of the cooling fin is small thereby decreasing the heat transfer ratio. However, by this, the air flow resistance in this core portion decreases thereby increasing an air flow amount. Thus, the radiation amount of the core portion of which required radiation amount is large increases.

Heat exchanger having several heat exchanging portions

A double heat exchanger includes a radiator having a radiator tank and a radiator core portion, and a condenser having a condenser tank and a condenser core portion. The radiator tank and the condenser tank are integrally connected by a connection portion protruding from the radiator and the condenser tanks toward the radiator and condenser core portions. Therefore, the connection portion is cooled by air passing through the radiator and condenser core portions. Thus, the connection portion restricts heat from the radiator tank from being transmitted to the condenser tank through the connection portion, thereby preventing heat-exchanging capacity of the condenser from being decreased in the double heat exchanger.

According to the present invention, a pin-disposed portion where a pin member for mounting a heat exchanger on a vehicle is disposed is structured such that an inner edge shape of a cross section of the pin-disposed portion draws a four-sided closed curved line. The pin member passes through an inner space of the pin-disposed portion and is connected to the pin-disposed portion at plural positions. In this way, the pin-disposed portion constructs a shell structure which is superior in a mechanical strength. Further, because the pin member is connected to the pin-disposed portion at plural positions while passing through the space, the shell structure of the pin-disposed portion can be made more rigid.

Heat exchanger for vehicle

A first cooling fin and a second cooing fin are separated to have a predetermine clearance, and a plurality of connecting portions for partly connecting the first and second cooling fins are formed. When the first and second cooling fins are unfolded, the length E of each the connecting portion in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the first and second cooling fins is equal to 5% or less of the length F between the adjacent connecting portions. Further, the first cooling fin is projected from the condenser tube toward the radiator tube side with a projection length Lc being in a range of 1.7 to 7.0 mm.

Heat exchanger having several exchanging portions

By using a small heat accumulator installed in a cooling water system, malfunction of exhaust emission during warming up is prevented. Such a cooling system includes a cooling water passage for returning cooling water flowing from a cooling water outlet of an automotive engine to a cooling water inlet through a radiator, a first bypass passage for returning the cooling water just after flowing from the cooling water outlet to the cooling water inlet through the radiator, a second bypass passage for returning the cooling water just after flowing out from the cooling water outlet of the engine to the cooling water inlet through the radiator by supplying the cooling water near a heat-sensing portion of a thermostat, a flowing amount adjusting valve for enlarging a cooling water flowing ratio to the first bypass passage with respect to the second bypass passage corresponding to a reduction of a load of the engine and the heat accumulator installed through the first bypass passage.

Cooling system for an internal combustion engine

According to the present invention, coolant temperature Tw after an engine has stopped is detected by a coolant-temperature sensor. An amount of temperature rise .DELTA.Tw is calculated from a temperature difference between the present coolant temperature (Tw) and the previous coolant temperature (Tw-1). It is determined on the basis of the amount of temperature rise .DELTA.Tw whether coolant temperature after the engine has stopped has reached a substantially maximum temperature. Specifically, the amount of temperature rise .DELTA.Tw and a set amount of temperature rise .DELTA.T which has been set in advance are compared, and in a case where .DELTA.Tw&gt;.DELTA.T, temperature rise is large and coolant temperature is still rising. Therefore, recovery of coolant is not performed. When .DELTA.Tw.ltoreq..DELTA.T, the amount of temperature rise is small and the present temperature is substantially the maximum temperature, and an electrical pump is operated to recover coolant. In this way, it is possible to recover a higher-temperature coolant into insulated container after the engine has stopped.

Coolant temperature control system for vehicles

A cooling apparatus for use in a vehicle is provided in which the cooling water of the water-cooled internal combustion engine is guided into a first portion of the radiator and the cooling water of another water-cooled apparatus such as a water-cooled innercooler of a super charger is guided into a second portion of the radiator. The first radiator portion and the second radiator portion can be selectively fluidly connected so that cooling water from one radiator portion can assist cooling in the other radiator portion.

The condenser is mounted in front of radiator by means of a mounting shroud, which includes a tubular portion for covering over an outer periphery of the condenser, a pair of vertical mounting walls provided on an inner periphery of the tubular portion, and a pair of mounting leg portions formed on an outer periphery of the tubular portion. The vertical mounting walls are securely fastened to upper and lower brackets of the condenser in a condition wherein the former contact with the latter, and the lower mounting leg portions are fitted in engaging recesses of a lower tank of the radiator while the upper mounting leg portions are securely fastened to an upper tank of the radiator. The tubular portion of the mounting shroud serves also as a wind introducing duct which prevents heated air having passed the radiator from coming around to the front of the condenser again.

Mounting apparatus for condenser

A vehicle provided with an internal combustion engine and an air conditioning system for a vehicle passenger cabin. A condenser of the air conditioning system is arranged in front of a radiator of the engine in an engine compartment of the engine. A duct is arranged between the condenser and the radiator for preventing the air passing the radiator from being returned forward P. A first damper, which is normally closed is provided in the duct, but is opened when the engine temperature is high to provide a flow of air, by-passing the condenser, directly into the radiator.
