A lanthanoid silicide-coated silicon carbide material whereof the surface is coated with a silicide, this silicide being a reaction product of an oxide of a lanthanoid rare earth element or yttrium with silicon carbide, or a reaction product of a compound oxide of a lanthanoid rare earth element or yttrium and silicon with silicon carbide; and a lanthanoid silicide-coated silicon carbide as above whereof the surface is further coated with an oxide of a lanthanoid rare earth element or yttrium, or with a compound oxide of a lanthanoid rare earth element or yttrium and silicon.

A mold is prepared from a material forming a nozzle body, and an alloy forming a covering layer is cast into the mold. A process for preparing catalysts for hydrodesulfurization which have fine pores sharply distributed in the range of 50 to 200A by the steps of adding a molybdate to a water soluble aluminum complex represented by the general formula Al.sub.n (OH).sub.m X.sub.3n.sub.-m, wherein 1&lt; n&lt; 100, 3n&gt; m; n/(3n-m) .ltoreq. 16 and X is a univalent anion, to obtain a uniform solution composition, treating the same hydrothermally, then adding, if required by the desired catalyst composition, a molybdenum or tungsten compound; adding one or more cobalt or nickel compounds; further adding and mixing one or more members selected from polyhydric alcohols, high-molecular organic substances and amine group substances and then treating the mixture in usual ways such as drying, calcinating, grinding, moisture adjusting, molding, roasting and the like.

A process for preparing catalysts for hydrodesulfurization which have fine pores sharply distributed in the range of 50 to 200A by the steps of adding a molybdate to a water soluble aluminum complex represented by the general formula Al.sub.n (OH).sub.m X.sub.3n.sub.-m (wherein n&gt;1, 3n&gt;m and X is an anion) to obtain a uniform solution composition, treating the same hydrothermally, then adding a member selected from the group consisting of molybdenum and tungsten compounds and one or more members selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt and nickel compounds, further adding and mixing with one or more members selected from the group consisting of polyvalent higher alcohols, high-molecular organic substances and amine group substances and then treating the mixture in such usual ways as drying, calcinating, grinding, moisture adjusting, molding, roasting and the like.
