Method for storing a compressed digital image includes performing an artificial intelligence ('AI') diagnostic test on the digital image; determining an uncompressed diagnostic result associated with the digital image based on the AI diagnostic test; generating one or more compressed digital images by compressing the digital image, each compressed digital image having a respective compression ratio; decompressing each compressed digital image to generate a respective decompressed digital image; performing the diagnostic test on each decompressed digital image; determining a decompressed diagnostic result associated with each decompressed digital image based on the respective diagnostic test; identifying one or more decompressed digital images having a respective decompressed diagnostic result that is the same as the uncompressed diagnostic result; selecting from the identified one or more decompressed digital images, the decompressed digital image associated with the highest compression ratio; and storing the compressed digital image associated with the selected decompressed digital image.

Systems and methods for storing compressed images

An image viewer and method for using the same in a medical image management system are described. In one embodiment, the system comprises: a network communication interface to receive compressed image pixel data; an image cache memory to cache the compressed DICOM image pixel data and rendered images; one or more processors coupled to the network connection interface and the memory and configured to implement an image rendering pipeline to perform image rendering in response to opening a healthcare study for review, wherein the image rendering includes determining whether compressed image pixel data associated with an image selected for display is in an image cache memory, and if so, then fetching the compressed image pixel data from an image cache, where the image pixel data represents a pre-rendered version of an image from a series in the healthcare study, and rendering a displayable image for display with a viewer on the display, and if not, then downloading from a remote location a version of the displayable image for display with the viewer; and a display coupled to the one or more processors to display the displayable image with a viewer.

In one embodiment, the system comprises: a network communication interface to receive images of a healthcare study; an image cache memory to cache the images; one or more processors coupled to the network connection interface and the memory and configured to dynamically change playback behavior for navigating through images of the healthcare study based on analyzing historical user inputs made with one or more user input devices while a user is navigating through the images; and a display coupled to the one or more processors to display the images in a viewport.

In one embodiment, the method comprises accessing a first medical study; displaying one or more images from the first medical study in a first display area of a screen; receiving one or more user inputs related to a user's interactions with the first display area; receiving a user input to add a first selectable entry into a list of one or more entries displayed in a second display area; adding the first selectable entry to the list in response to receiving a user input; and storing the list for future access with the first medical study.
