A vehicle body frame is such that hollow frame members such as side frames extending longitudinally along a vehicle body are provided thereon. Two inner partition plates are integrally formed in the interior of each of the hollow frame member in such a manner that the two inner partition plates extend in a longitudinal direction of the frame member and are close to each other along plate surfaces thereof, so that a central space portion defined by the two inner partition plates therebetween is formed in the interior of the hollow frame member, whereby side plates constituting the hollow frame member can be dissociated at portions of the side plates which face the central space portion by virtue of a buckling load.

There is provided a construction for suspension system mounting portions of the body of a vehicle characterized in that a closed cross-sectional portion ( ) extending in a transverse direction of the body of the vehicle is formed with a plurality of sheet materials (a front dash panel and a dash panel lower cross member ) which are each pressed into shapes, that an extruded beam member (a reinforcement beam ) is caused to extend into the interior of the closed cross-sectional portion, die-cast suspension arm brackets ( ) are welded to an external surface of the closed cross-sectional portion with a part thereof (protruding portions ) being caused to protrude into the interior of the closed cross-sectional portion, and that the beam member is welded to the protruding portions. This can provide high rigidity without involving the complexity in shaping the respective members constituting the closed cross-sectional portion. In addition, the breaking strength of the suspension system mounting portions against the repeated stress can further be improved by a combination of the pressed members having high toughness and the cast members having high rigidity.

Construction for suspension system mounting portions of body of vehicle

A framework structure of an automobile body formed of a lightweight metal material is provided, wherein a press-molded member is placed at a joint part of a die casting member and an extrusion-molded member. In doing so, insufficient toughness of the die casing member is reinforced by the press-molded member, so that the impact energy absorption performance of a welded joint part of the die casting member and the extrusion-molded member is enhanced.

Framework structure of an automobile body

A hollow frame member of an aluminum alloy for a vehicle body frame includes a front pipe portion. The front pipe portion has an annular end surface as a surface receiving a collision load at a front end thereof. In the front pipe portion, a cross sectional area is gradually increased from a base end toward the receiving surface, and a thickness is gradually decreased from the base end toward the receiving surface. Thus, the front pipe portion can be crushed early and stably from the receiving surface upon collision of the vehicle to enhance the collision energy absorbing efficiency.

Hollow frame member of aluminum alloy for vehicle body frame

A lightweight metal automobile framework having a hollow, impact-absorbing member, wherein the impact-absorbing member absorbs any impact by axial plastic deformation and has inner ribs passing through a center axis thereof. The impact-absorbing member may also have an axial end face partially removed to lessen an area on which a load is imposed at an instant of impact, thereby raising the average stress of the impact and lowering peak deceleration. Also, automobile framework members forming a front-end portion of the automobile framework may be detachably coupled to the automobile framework.

Method and structure for mounting a fuel tank

A bomb supporting frame for supporting fuel bombs which store pressurized gaseous fuel in an automobile. The bomb supporting frame is fixed on a floor provided on right and left rear side frames of a vehicular body, and simultaneously it is fixed on damper strut mounting portions of right and left rear wheel houses.
