A display device including: a light emitting unit including a plurality of light sources; a second panel configured to adjust transmittance of light from the light emitting unit; and a first panel configured to adjust transmittance of light from the second panel, further including: a first control unit configured to perform first control with respect to the first panel for controlling transmittance of each pixel on the basis of the image data; and a second control unit configured to perform, in a case where an image area of low brightness is adjacent to an image area of high brightness in the image data, second control for making transmittance of the second panel at a partial area corresponding to the image area of low brightness be lower than transmittance of the second panel at a partial area corresponding to the image area of high brightness.

Display device and control method therefor

A light emitting substrate configured to enhance luminance of an image display apparatus is disclosed. The light emitting substrate includes a transparent substrate, a photonic crystal structure, a transparent anode, a light emitting layer having a diffuse reflectance of 0.04% or less and having a side reflecting member at a side thereof. The photonic crystal structure, the transparent anode, and the light emitting layer are successively laminated in this order on the transparent substrate. The light emitting substrate satisfies the following Condition 1 or Condition 2:

An image display device includes a rear plate provided with an electron emitting element, a face plate provided with a transparent substrate, a transparent anode electrode formed on the transparent substrate, and a fluorescent layer provided on the anode electrode and including fluorescent particles. An average particle size of the fluorescent particles is equal to or less than 500 nm. The face plate has a light extraction means for extracting light emitted when the fluorescent layer is irradiated by electrons emitted from the electron emitting element to the substrate side.

There is provided an organic light emitting device to break through the limit of 25% of internal quantum efficiency and 5% of external quantum efficiency while using singlet luminescence. Specifically provided is an organic light emitting device comprising an anode, an organic layer and a cathode, wherein light-emitting molecules present in an emissive layer which is at least a part of the organic layer and responsible for luminescence by charge injection effect transition from a triplet excited state having an energy level higher than a lowest excited singlet state to a singlet excited state and effect fluorescent emission in a fluorescence quantum yield of 60% or more in the same state as existing in the emissive layer, and wherein the emissive layer comprises the light-emitting molecules as a main component in an amount of 50 wt % or more, or is doped with the light-emitting molecules at a high concentration of 7 wt % or more, or is a layer in which the light-emitting molecules are excitable by direct trapping of electrons and holes has enabled to break through the limit of 25% of internal quantum efficiency and 5% of external quantum efficiency while using singlet luminescence.

Organic light emitting device with reverse intersystem crossing light emitting molecules

The present invention provides a very durable charge injection type light emitting device. In a charge injection type light emitting device comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an organic film sandwiched between the positive and negative electrodes and composed of one or more organic compounds, the organic film containing at least one light emitting layer, a potential barrier to electrons between the light emitting layer and a barrier layer defined as a member that contacts with the light emitting layer from the positive electrode side is 0.5 eV or more.

Charge injection type light emitting device

There is disclosed a light guide for guiding light from a light source in a longitudinal direction and radiating the light to illuminate an object to be illuminated, which includes a diffuser for diffusing the light from the light source along the longitudinal direction of the light guide, and a radiator for radiating the light diffused by the diffuser in a predetermined direction. By arranging the diffuser and the radiator so that a normal line passing through the center of the width of the diffuser is different from the predetermined direction at least in the vicinity of the light source when viewed in the longitudinal direction of the light guide, the illuminance distribution of the longitudinal direction of the light guide is uniformed.

An organic electronic device functioning as a flat EL display panel is provided by forming an organic EL element and a nonlinear device as a drive means for controlling a current supplied to the EL device on a common substrate. The nonlinear device has a structure including a first organic layer and a second organic layer each comprising an organic material, and at least one metal layer principally comprising a metal element and sandwiched between the first and second organic layers so as to flow at least a part of current through the metal layer between the first and second organic layers sandwiching the metal layer. The nonlinear device having a function comparable to a conventional organic transistor or diode can be formed by using not a special organic material having a remarkably high mobility but an organic material selected from a broader class of materials.

A luminescence device is formed of a substrate, and a laminated layer structure formed on the substrate including a plurality of luminescence layers emitting different luminescence colors, and a plurality of electrodes forming pairs of electrodes each sandwiching an associated luminescence layer. At least one of the plurality of electrodes are provided with apertures, through which a luminescence flux emitted from at least one of the luminescence layers is transmitted. As a result, the luminescence device can emit different luminescence colors expected to cause color mixing with each other with a minimum of positional difference leading to color irregularity.

In an image sensor which has a photoelectric conversion element group, an illumination device having light sources of at least three emission colors R, G, and B, an imaging lens, and the like, moire noise in a color output image is eliminated, the original reading time is shortened, and a cost reduction is attained. For this purpose, a sensor array including a linear array of a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements, a lens array for imaging an original image on the sensor array, an illumination device using LEDs having emission colors R, G, and B, and a cover glass are supported by and fixed to a frame. The conjugate length of the lens array is set to fall within the range between the R and G emission wavelengths. An original pressed against the cover glass is illuminated by the illumination device, and light reflected by the original is converted into electrical signals by the sensor array, thereby reading the original image.
