An occupant detection system may detect a state of an occupant in a vehicle compartment. The occupant detection system may photograph the vehicle compartment and generate an image. The occupant detection system may change an attitude in order to change a position of an imaging region within the vehicle compartment. The occupant detection system may estimate the attitude based on information included in the image and control an operation based on the estimated attitude. The sensor may be provided by an infrared temperature sensor. The image may be provided by a thermal image showing a temperature distribution of the vehicle compartment. The occupant detection system may store a correspondence relationship between a position of a specific temperature boundary included in the thermal image and the attitude. The occupant detection system may estimate the attitude based on the correspondence relationship.

Occupant detection system

A humidity detector a humidity sensor detecting a relative humidity of an air inside a sensor case housing the humidity sensor. The humidity detector has an air volume obtaining section, a flow direction obtaining section, a setting section, and a correction section. The air volume obtaining section obtains air volume information correlated with an air volume of the air flowing around the humidity sensor. The flow direction obtaining section obtains flow direction information correlated with a flow direction of the air flowing around the humidity sensor. The setting section sets correction factors configuring a dynamic compensator based on the air volume information and the flow direction information. The dynamic compensator compensates for a response delay of the humidity sensor. The correction section corrects a detection value, which is detected by the humidity sensor, by using the dynamic compensator to obtain the relative humidity of the air.

An occupant detection system includes a state detection unit that detects a state of an object, a detection position changing unit that changes a position of a detection region, the detection region being a region in which state is detected by the state detection unit, and a controller that controls an operation of the detection position changing unit. In this occupant detection system, a position of the detection region is set to a predetermined initial position during a period of time from when a start switch provided in the vehicle is turned off until when the start switch is turned on.

A vehicular air-conditioner includes: a wind changing unit that changes at least one of a wind volume and a wind direction of air-conditioned wind, a temperature detection unit that detects a surface temperature of an object based on radiation from the object, a detection position changing unit that changes a position of a detection target region that is a region in which the surface temperature is to be detected by the temperature detection unit, and a control unit that controls each operation of the wind changing unit and the detection position changing unit. The control unit controls at least one of the operation of the wind changing unit and the operation of the detection position changing unit to suppress changes in the wind volume of the air-conditioned wind in the detection target region when a portion of the surface of an occupant is in the detection target region.

Vehicular air-conditioner

A control unit for an air conditioning system for a motor vehicle calculates a target blowing air temperature based on a temperature of a passenger's clothing detected by a no contact temperature sensor. An air conditioning operation is performed based on the calculated target blowing air temperature. In particular, when calculating the target temperature in the summer or in the winter season, a change of the detected temperature of the passenger's clothing is used, so that the change of detected temperature is reflected in the target temperature with a time delay.

In a vehicle air conditioner, a first air-conditioning control value is calculated based on a surface temperature detected by a non-contact temperature sensor in a temperature detection area of a passenger compartment. When it is determined that an obstacle exists between the temperature detection area and the non-contact temperature sensor, a second air-conditioning control value is calculated according to a temperature information that is influenced less by the obstacle than the detected surface temperature. When it is determined that the obstacle does not exist, an air conditioning state of the passenger compartment is controlled based on the first air-conditioning control value. When it is determined that the obstacle exists, the first air-conditioning control value is corrected to approach the second air-conditioning control value to calculate a corrected air-conditioning control value, so that the air conditioning state can be controlled satisfactorily.

When a front-passenger seat occupant detecting sensor indicates absence of an occupant in a front-passenger seat, an air conditioning control ECU adjusts a temperature measurement measured with a non-contacting temperature sensor for measuring a surface temperature of the occupant in the front-passenger seat and controls air conditioning state around the front-passenger seat based on the adjusted temperature measurement associated with the front-passenger seat.

A vehicle air conditioner includes an operating unit operated by a passenger for setting an air conditioning state in a passenger compartment, and a control unit for automatically controlling the air conditioning state in accordance with a detection value of an environment condition. The control unit performs a learning correction of a control characteristic in accordance with manual operations of the operating unit, and a number of the manual operations is indicated by using an indicator. Further, a number of the manual operations performed in an initial period and a number of the manual operations performed in an immediately recent period are comparably indicated on the indicator. Therefore, a passenger can realize the effect of the learning correction, even when the number of the manual operation is decreased after the learning correction is performed.

A vehicle air conditioner includes a non-contact temperature sensor for detecting a temperature in a predetermined area of a passenger compartment in non-contact, an air conditioning unit that controls an air conditioning state in the passenger compartment based on at least the temperature detected by the non-contact temperature sensor, and an air conditioning ECU for controlling the air conditioning unit. The ECU determines whether the temperature detected by the non-contact temperature sensor is abnormal, and informs a determination result to a user by using a light emitting diode. Thus, it is possible to notify the user whether the temperature detected by the non-contact temperature sensor is abnormal. The determination whether the detected temperature of the non-contact temperature sensor is abnormal can be performed by using at least one of the temperature detected by the non-contact temperature sensor and an environment condition.

Vehicle air conditioner with non-contact temperature sensor

A vehicle air conditioner has an IR sensor that detects a temperature of air inside a vehicle compartment. The IR sensor is disposed on an instrument panel so that the sensor is disposed above switches and a face blowout port on the instrument panel. Accordingly, a detecting range of the IR sensor is prevented from interfering by hands of a driver or an occupant even when the switches are operated by the driver. Thus, the air conditioner is capable of stable air conditioning.

A vehicle air conditioning system uses a non-contact temperature sensor for feedback control of the temperature of the air blown out from a blowing opening. The degrees of opening of an air mix damper and a bypass open/close damper are controlled by actuators that respond in accordance with a temperature detected by the non-contact sensor so the blowing temperature will ultimately approach a target value. Air conditioning control is achieved as desired by this feedback control of the blowing temperature without providing wiring for a temperature sensor near the blowing opening.

In a vehicle air conditioner, a non-contact temperature sensor is used as an inside air temperature sensor for detecting a temperature in a passenger compartment. Based on infrared rays radiated from a predetermined area of the passenger compartment, the non-contact temperature sensor detects a surface temperature in the predetermined area in non-contact. Therefore, it is not necessary to blow air from the passenger compartment to the inside air temperature sensor in order to detect the temperature in the passenger compartment. Thus, energy consumption can be reduced while the temperature in the passenger compartment can be accurately detected. Accordingly, while the vehicle stops, the vehicle air conditioner can accurately determine whether air conditioning control by an air conditioning unit needs be started while energy consumption can be reduced.

A vehicle air conditioner has an actuator for driving an air mixing door and various mode switching doors. An automatic range and a manual range are set in different operating angle ranges of the actuator. In the automatic range, an air outlet mode is automatically switched in accordance with an opening degree of the air mixing door. On the other hand, in the manual range, a multi-mode or a defroster mode is manually set, regardless of the opening degree of the air mixing door. In the manual range, air is simultaneously blown from all openings such as a face opening, a foot opening and a defroster opening in the multi-mode, and air is blown from the defroster opening in the defroster mode.

Further, when the change operation of the set temperature is performed in an another region, a correction of the set temperature of the learned region is restricted. Thus, it can restrict the set temperature of a region, which is satisfied by the passenger from being changed.
