A separable camera head capable of attaching and detaching a camera cable by a connector system, wherein the camera head has an external appearance of a direct fitting cable structure. Lead terminal pins of an image sensing device module including image sensing devices, driving circuits and a spatial filter are inserted into a connector of a connector module having a cable clamp, a connector, a cable and a body chassis. Thereafter, a sheath chassis and the body chassis are united by a screw and a screw thread.

The present invention provides a compact camera head for a solid-state image pickup device, a dimension of which is not so limited by a package for a solid-state image pickup element. A beam splitter of a color imaging equipment includes three prism blocks for red, green and blue channels, connecting members for connecting the red channel prism block and the blue channel prism block via an air-gap, and supporting plates for supporting these prism blocks. The connecting members have the same or smaller expansion coefficient as the prism blocks. The supporting plates are connected to the green channel prism block, and substantially not connected to the red and blue channel prism blocks and the connecting members. Consequently, the air-gap between the red and blue channel prism blocks are not affected by the expansion/shrinkage of the supporting plates, and thereby the registration characteristic is improved.
