A battery pack in one aspect of the present disclosure includes two or more battery blocks and a connection circuit. The connection circuit is connected to a positive terminal and a negative terminal of an electric work machine. The connection circuit connects the positive terminal and the negative terminal to a specific number of battery blocks included in the two or more battery blocks. The specific number varies depending on electrical properties of the electric work machine.

Battery pack

A battery pack in one aspect of the present disclosure includes a first battery block, a second battery block, and a terminal portion. The terminal portion is configured to output a parallel voltage of the battery block and the second battery block connected in parallel in response to a state where a first electric working machine is connected to the terminal portion. The terminal portion is configured to output a first voltage of the first battery block and a second voltage of the second battery block individually in response to a state where a second electric working machine is connected to the terminal portion.

Battery pack and battery system

A motor driven appliance in one aspect of embodiments of the present disclosure comprises a light source, a lighting unit, a motor, an operation unit, an operation detector, a reference signal output unit, a determination unit, and a control unit. The operation detector detects that the operation unit is operated, and outputs an operation detection signal that indicates that the operation unit is operated. The reference signal output unit outputs at least one reference signal that can be used as a reference for determining whether the detection by the operation detector is normal. The determination unit determines whether the operation unit is actually operated based on the operation detection signal and the at least one reference signal. The control unit controls operation of the lighting unit based on the determination made by the determination unit.

A charging apparatus includes: a connecting unit; a charging unit; a temperature detecting unit; and an operation inhibiting unit. The charging unit supplies at least a part of electric power supplied from the power supply portion via the connecting unit to a battery thereby to charge the battery. The operation inhibiting unit inhibits operation of a battery circuit provided in the battery when an ambient temperature detected by the temperature detecting unit has reached a preassigned designated temperature.

Battery chargers

A battery charging system is disclosed for charging two different types of battery packs, a known three terminal type including batteries and a thermostat switch, and a newer four terminal type further including a thermistor for sensing battery temperature. A charging control circuit stops charging current to the battery pack when a contact of the thermostat switch is open or when the thermistor detects a temperature above a predetermined temperature. If either the thermostat switch or the thermistor fail to properly operate, charging current to the battery pack is stopped securely to avoid damaging batteries.

A battery charger includes a microcomputer operable to receive an input value corresponding to a value of charging current. A thyristor has the gate connected to an output port of the microcomputer. The microcomputer operable to adjust the firing angle of the thyristor for controlling the value of the charging current through a phase control of the charging current in response to the input value. A capacitor has a first electrode connected to the gate of the thyristor. A transistor has the collector connected to a second electrode of the capacitor, the base connected to the output port of the microcomputer, and the emitter connected to a power source voltage for the microcomputer.

A battery charger includes a battery voltage detecting circuit for detecting a voltage of a battery during a charging operation. The battery voltage detecting circuit includes a pair of a first and a second voltage-dividing resistor. A transistor is interposed between the first and second voltage-dividing resistors. A predetermined voltage is applied to the base of the transistor, so that the battery voltage is detected based on the voltage divided by the first and second voltage-dividing resistors.
