High-strength vacuum glass is provided. The vacuum glass includes an air-cooled tempered first glass plate; an air-cooled tempered second glass plate that faces the first glass plate via a depressurized layer; and an outer peripheral sealing portion joining an outer peripheral edge portion of the first glass plate and an outer peripheral edge portion of the second glass plate together so as to seal the depressurized layer. The outer peripheral sealing portion contains solder.

Depressurized multilayered glass panel

A vacuum glass panel including a vacuum glass, a sash, and a grazing gasket is provided. The vacuum glass includes a first glass plate, a second glass plate having substantially the same area as the area of the first glass plate in a front view, and a depressurized layer arranged between the first glass plate and the second glass plate opposed to the first glass plate. The lower face of the first glass plate and the lower face of the second glass plate are misaligned relative to each other in the vertical direction. The sash includes two groove walls that define a groove for receiving the upper, lower, right, and left peripheral edge portions of the vacuum glass in a front view. The grazing gasket is arranged on at least the lower portion of the vacuum glass inside the groove and seals a gap between the vacuum glass and the groove walls, and includes a clamping portion for clamping the vacuum glass from a first outer principal surface of the first glass plate and a second outer principal surface of the second glass plate near the top portions of the groove walls.

Vacuum glass panel

A low-reflection film-coated transparent substrate of the present invention includes a transparent substrate and a low-reflection film formed on at least one principal surface of the transparent substrate. The low-reflection film is a porous film including: fine silica particles being solid and spherical and having an average particle diameter of 80 to 150 nm; and a binder containing silica as a main component, the fine silica particles being bound by the binder. The binder further contains an aluminum compound. The low-reflection film contains as components: 55 to 70 mass % of the fine silica particles; 25 to 40 mass % of the silica of the binder; 0.1 to 1.5 mass % of the aluminum compound in terms of AlO; and 0.25 to 3% of an organic component. The low-reflection film has a thickness of 80 to 800 nm. A transmittance gain is 2.5% or more, the transmittance gain being defined as an increase of average transmittance of the low-reflection film-coated transparent substrate in a wavelength range of 380 to 850 nm relative to average transmittance of the transparent substrate uncoated with the low-reflection film in the wavelength range. The organic component includes at least one selected from the group consisting of a &#xdf;-ketoester and a &#xdf;-diketone.

Low-reflection film-coated transparent substrate, photoelectric conversion device, coating liquid for forming low-reflection film of low-reflection film-coated transparent substrate, and method for producing low-reflection film-coated transparent substrate

A low-reflection coated glass sheet of the present invention includes a glass sheet and a low-reflection coating. The low-reflection coating is formed on at least a portion of one principal surface of the glass sheet and contains a binder containing silica as a main component, fine silica particles bound by the binder, and fine titania particles bound by the binder. The low-reflection coating satisfies the following relationships: 30 mass %&#x3c;C&#x3c;68 mass %; 12 mass %&#x2264;C&#x3c;50 mass %; 20 mass %&#x3c;C&#x3c;43.75 mass %; C/C&#x2265;0.6; C&#x3c;25 mass % in the case of C&#x2265;55 mass %; and C&#x3e;20 mass % in the case of C&#x3c;55 mass %. The low-reflection coated glass sheet has a transmittance gain of 2.0% or more.

A transmissive diffraction grating includes a substrate and a plurality of ridges provided in a mutually parallel manner at constant periodicity p on the substrate. The ridges include a first layer, a second layer (refractive index n: 2.0-2.5), and a third layer with non-continuous refractive indices, arranged in that order from the substrate outward. The first layer adjacent the substrate, in terms of its refractive index, exhibits a difference of 0.1 or less relative to the substrate. The second layer has a higher refractive index than the first layer and third layer and satisfies the following conditions. For a single ridge, the cross-sectional area S of a cross-section of the second layer perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of said ridge is in the range of 0.75pk&#x3b8;/(n&#x2212;1)&#x3c;S&#x3c;1.20pk&#x3b8;/(n&#x2212;1), were, &#x3b8; is the angle of incidence onto the diffraction grating face, expressed in radian units, and the constant kis 1.1. The thickness dof the second layer is in the range of 0.70pk&#x3b8;n/(n&#x2212;1)&#x3c;d&#x3c;1.30pk&#x3b8;n/(n&#x2212;1), where, the constant kis 0.69.

An optical element according to the invention constituted by a multilayer structure having a periodic structural portion as at least one region constituted by repetition of a predetermined period, wherein an end surface of the multilayer structure not parallel to layer surfaces of the multilayer structure is used as a light input surface whereas one or each of opposite surfaces of the multilayer structure parallel to the layer surfaces is used as a light output surface. There is an intermediate layer between a medium and a surface of the multilayer structure, the intermediate layer having a refractive index less than the refractive index of the medium. The periodic structural portion of the multilayer structure can be regarded as a one-dimensional photonic crystal. Refracted light from the one-dimensional photonic crystal has good directivity and the direction of the refracted light has strong dependence on wavelength. When this wavelength dependence property is used, a spectroscopic device or a polarized light separating device of high resolution can be achieved without increase in device size.

Optical element and spectroscopic device using the same

A method of forming a micro groove structure according to the invention has the steps of: (a) forming a mask pattern on a substrate capable of being subjected to dry etching; (b) dry etching the substrate having the mask pattern formed thereon; (c) vapor-phase forming a thin film of a masking material for the dry etching, on a non-etched surface portion of the substrate after the dry etching; and (d) dry etching the substrate having the thin film formed thereon. The steps (a) to (d) are carried out successively.

Method for forming micro groove structure

An optical element according to the invention uses a thin film-like two-dimensional photonic crystal having a structure of periodic repetition in two directions perpendicular to each other. When the two periodic directions are Y-axis and Z-axis directions, opposite surfaces of the photonic crystal structure perpendicular to the Z-axis direction and parallel to the Y-axis direction are used as a light input surface and a light output surface respectively. The direction of movement of light rays incident onto the light input surface is decided so that it is parallel to the YZ plane and inclined at a predetermined inclination angle to the Z-axis direction.
