A method of molding an optical component which includes providing a first mold and a second mold which mold the optical component, a cylindrical body whose rotational symmetry axis is identical with a second symmetry axis about which a second mold is rotationally symmetric, a trunk mold whose rotational symmetry axis is identical with a first symmetry axis about which a first mold is rotationally symmetric, a supporting means which supports the first mold in such a way that the first mold moves relatively to the trunk mold in parallel with the first symmetry axis, and a second tapered surface and a first tapered surface which contacts the second tapered surface, which connect the cylindrical body with the trunk mold in such a way that the second symmetry axis is identical with the first symmetry axis.

Method of molding optical component

The present invention aims to allow production of a molded item having a highly precise shape. A molding metal mold is provided having a movable metal mold (first metal mold) and a fixed metal mold (second metal mold) defining a cavity therebetween in which a molded item is produced. The movable metal mold has a first convex taper tapering toward the fixed metal mold. The fixed metal mold has a first concave taper fittable with the first convex taper. The first convex taper and the first concave taper are arranged so that, when fitted to each other, respective taper surface abut to each other first, and then a clamping force of the movable metal mold and the fixed metal mold causes an abutting between an end surface and a bottom surface which are respective parting surfaces of the movable metal mold and the fixed metal mold around the cavity. The molding metal mold is used to produce a molded item by means of injection molding, for example.

Molding metal mold and method for producing a molded item

A mold for an optical component is provided in which a first tapered surface is provided in a first mold while a second tapered surface is provided in a second mold. In the mold for the optical component, a curved surface distance which is a distance between a first mold curved surface and a second mold curved surface is greater than a lens thickness which is a distance between a first lens surface and a second lens surface in a state where the second tapered surface is contact with the first tapered surface. Moreover, the second tapered surface moves to a position where the curved surface distance is equal to the lens thickness, to elastically transform the first mold and fit onto the first tapered surface.

A heat exchange apparatus for a metal mold is provided, which includes a heat exchange passage provided for the metal mold, a first supply unit for supplying hot heat carrier to the heat exchange passage and a second supply unit for supplying cold heat carrier to the heat exchange passage. The heat exchange apparatus performs heat exchange for the metal mold by supplying the hot heat carrier and cold heat carrier to the heat exchange passage switching alternately. And the heat exchange apparatus has a feature that it includes an air supply unit for supplying air to the heat exchange passage so that the heat carriers are purged when the hot heat carrier and cold carrier are switched.
