An image processing device for evaluating a classifier which recognizes a target object within an input image and classifies the target object into one among a plurality of classes, includes: a classification unit which obtains a classification performance of the classifier by using the classifier and classifying the target object included in each of a plurality of verification images in which a class of the target object is known, and outputting one among the plurality of classes for each of the verification images; and an evaluation unit which outputs an evaluation result of the classifier based on the classification performance of the classifier obtained with the classification unit.

Provided is a technique for, even when the lightness of an image contained in a video changes, accurately separating the background of the image and an object in the background and thus efficiently collecting images that contain a target object to be detected, and also suppressing the amount of data communicated between a terminal device and a server. In the present invention, a terminal device accurately separates the background of an image and an object (i.e., a target object to be detected) in the background so as to simply detect the object in the background, and transfers to a server only candidate images that contain the detected object. Meanwhile, as such simple target object detection may partially involve erroneous detection, the server closely examines the candidate images to identify the target object to be detected, and thus recognizes the object.

A video surveillance system includes: plural cameras that capture images; a monitoring apparatus that displays the images captured by the cameras; an information generating apparatus that generates information for searching the images captured by the cameras; and a search apparatus that searches the images captured by the cameras. The information generating apparatus acquires the images captured by the cameras, generates retrieval data from the acquired images, and transmits the generated retrieval data to the search apparatus. The search apparatus stores the retrieval data received from the information generating apparatus in a storage device, and notifies the monitoring apparatus that the retrieval data has been stored.

Video surveillance system and method using IP-based networks

An image monitoring technology for accurately collecting information about a monitoring target is provided. An image monitoring apparatus according to the present invention tracks the monitoring target on the basis of images sent from an overhead camera and images sent from gazing cameras, and switches gazing targets for the gazing cameras on the basis of the position and event information of the monitoring target, and tracking information about the monitoring target.

A system and method are provided for tracing bank notes or, specifically, counterfeit money. In one example of the tracing system, an automatic teller machine (ATM) electronically connected to one or more devices is provided. The one or more devices comprise a deposit device configured to receive an initial bank note; an image extraction device configured to extract one or more initial images from the initial bank note; a transaction log device configured to attach a transaction log to the one or more initial images, wherein the deposit device is further configured to receive a subsequent bank note, wherein the image extraction device is further configured to extract one or more subsequent images from the subsequent bank note; and a comparison device configured to compare the one or initial images to the one or more subsequent images in order to obtain a comparison result.

System and method for tracing bank notes

The type and number of denomination of notes and the identification method of authentic notes differs for every country. The development of such identification device for these currencies in each country increases the manufacturing cost, and the processing time increases when the types of notes to be authenticated are increased. The present invention provides a paper sheet identifier device, which includes a main board for operating common processes independent from specific notes and sub-boards in parallel operation, allowing sub-boards connected to the main board to be added or replaced in accordance with the type and number of denomination of notes in a country along with the authentication method. The present invention improves the processing speed by parallelizing the identification processes, and the efficiency of updating the device specification when a new note is issued.

Verification method of goods using IC tags and equipment using the method

In goods genuineness/counterfeit discrimination using IC tags, contradictory problems of the reliability and lifetime of the IC tags and the accuracy of goods genuineness/counterfeit discrimination are solved and circulation of goods mounted with defective IC tags is prevented. A ratio of a number of IC tags having sent information indicative of the fact that the IC tags are mounted on the same object member to a number of IC tags from which the information is to be sent originally is determined and the genuineness/counterfeit discrimination is performed with the ratio. With regard to adopting a combination of genuineness/counterfeit discrimination, information necessary for detection is added to goods and information of the inspection area is stored in the IC tags. When the number of defective IC tags is large, goods mounted with the IC tags is collected.

The invention relates to a mobile device with a built-in image capture device, and a character recognition function to present the information gathered with the character recognition result. With the mobile device, the character line extraction process is displayed whenever necessary, and the resolution of an image to be inputted for recognition processing is enhanced. The machine comprises a bill validator outputs a result of verification of whether a received note could be classified or not, and a cash box for notes unclassified by verification results, and a cash box for notes other than unclassified notes. After transaction hours, re-verification is carried out, in which notes are retrieved one sheet at a time from the unclassified note box and sensed again by a sensor, and the bill validator receives a signal from the sensor and re-verifies the note by using an algorithm with higher accuracy than in verification at the time of a receiving transaction.

An image of the surface of the mail is input and segmented into at least one character string candidate. At least one address area candidate is extracted from the image based upon the segmented character string candidate. One address area candidate extracted from the image is selected as a receiver address by analyzing each address area candidate based on predetermined position information indicating a usual position of a receiver address area, character direction information indicating a character direction of a character string appropriate for the predetermined position information, and key character string information indicating a character string most likely to exist in a receiver address. An address reader method and apparatus for recognizing a receiver address on a surface of mail.
