A valve enables and disables communication of a bypass passage, which extends from a fluid supply passage and bypasses at least one fluid control valve, to at least one of a retarding passage and an advancing passage connected to a valve timing mechanism. An ECU controls the valve to enable the communication of the bypass passage to the at least one of the retarding passage and the advancing passage when a temperature is equal to or less than a predetermined temperature. The ECU controls the valve to disable the communication of the bypass passage to the at least one of the retarding passage and the advancing passage when the temperature is higher than the predetermined temperature.

Valve timing control system

A valve timing control apparatus includes a driven shaft for actuating an intake valve and/or an exhaust valve of an engine. A housing member rotates together with a driving shaft of the engine. A rotor member is accommodated coaxially in the housing member for rotating together with the driven shaft. The rotor member is rotatable with respect to the housing member. The rotor member includes a rotor vane that circumferentially has a thick portion and a thin portion. The thick portion is greater than the thin portion in radial thickness. The rotor member further includes a bushing vane, in a substantially cylindrical shape, having one end. The one end is connectable to the rotor vane through a press-insertion hole with a compression margin relative to the thin portion. The one end is connectable to the rotor vane through a press-insertion hole without a compression margin relative to the thick portion.

Valve timing control apparatus

A valve timing adjusting apparatus for an engine comprises a housing unit and a vane rotor rotatably housed in the housing unit. The housing unit comprises a front plate, a shoe housing and a sprocket, wherein those elements are fixed to each other. A position determination pin is inserted through a through hole formed in the shoe housing and into a tapered hole formed in the sprocket, to position the shoe housing at a desired position with respect to the sprocket. Since a forward end of the position determination pin is brought into contact with an inner surface of the tapered hole, the positioning of the shoe housing with respect to the sprocket can be surely attained.

Valve timing adjusting apparatus

An outer bottom of an engaging member, which is formed as a tubular shape having a bottom, is contact with an inner wall of a housing existing in the opposite direction of a fitting direction. The engaging member urges and covers one edge of an urging member. As a result, pressure, which the inner wall of the housing receives, can be decreased comparing with the structure, in which the urging member is directly in contact with the inner wall of the housing.
