A device for loading film wherein the narrow leader of the film is wound up on a takeup spool having a frictional member provided in a portion of the outer periphery thereof, while its edge opposite to that which has perforations is pressed against the frictional member, whereby the film leader is impelled towards the flank of the spool as the inside edge of the film leader on the aforesaid frictional member moves faster than the opposite edge. After one turn of the film leader around the spool, the outer corner of the end of the film leader is conducted so as not to engage perforations of the following area of the film.

Automatic film winding device

In an apparatus such as a camera which automatically performs film winding and rewinding by means of a motor, an automatic rewinding circuit is arranged to detect interruption of a winding action by means of a timer circuit which is set at a length of time longer than a predetermined length of winding time. Upon detection of the interruption, the automatic rewinding circuit automatically shifts the winding action to a rewinding action. The apparatus is also provided with a memory storage which mechanically memorizes the operating state of the automatic rewinding circuit or with a forced rewinding device which permits a rewinding operation irrespective of the operating state of the automatic rewinding circuit.

Automatic film rewinding device

A camera having an electromagnetically driven shutter provided with a counter capable upon counting a present number producing a signal. Each time the shutter is closed, the counted value is changed, while the period of actuation of the shutter is controlled to effect a predetermined fraction of an exposure, so that a continuous sequence of shots equal in number to that preset in the counter are taken automatically.

Exposure control system

A flash device of the type in which the flash tube is coated with a trigger electrode and is positioned in contact with the back metal constituting part of the reflector so that when the trigger signal is applied directly to the back metal, the flash tube is triggered. In this type of flash device the back metal constituting part of the reflector is configured to a round shape. Because of the necessity of insuring good light distribution it is generally made of bright alloy aluminum. This not only makes it difficult to finely adjust the position of the flash tube relative to the back metal and electrically connect the trigger wire lead with the back metal, but also gives rise to a problem of electrically insulating the back metal from the other metallic parts since a very high voltage for triggering is applied to the back metal. The present invention provides a flash device which has solved the various problems by providing the back metal with embossed portions to adjust the position of the flash tube, by pressure-setting the connection of the trigger wire lead with the back metal, and by applying an electrically insulating coating on the back surface of the back metal.

Flash device

In a winding device for a camera in which automatic winding of loaded film from a winding start position to a first picture taking position is effected without interrelation to photographic operation, the automatic film winding is enabled by controlling a control member of the winding device by a change-over member which is actuated in response to a counter displaying the numbers of exposed film frames. When in the rewinding mode, in order to insure that the film can be rewound to the winding start position without failure, actuation of the change-over member is not transmitted to the control member.

In a camera capable, upon actuation of a film rewind release member, of cutting off the manual or motorized driving torque from the winding transmission system to render the winding operation impossible, while simultaneously rendering the manual or motorized rewinding operation possible, the rewinding device is provided with means responsive to the actuation of the film rewind release member for cutting off the various charge mechanisms from the manual or motorized driving torque transmission system.

In an automatically focusing camera, the lens is driven to infinity during film winding and the film winding spool is blocked when film winding is completed. Upon shutter release actuation of the camera, film winding is unblocked when the automatic focusing circuit energizes a first magnet and lens rotation is blocked at the focused position when the automatic focusing circuit energizes a second magnet. A single control member operates to effect blocking of the film winding mechanism and to drive the lens to infinity when rotated in one direction, and to unblock the film winding mechanism when rotated in the opposite direction.

The present invention relates to an electromagnetically driven shutter device for camera, so designed that a detecting means for detecting the displacement speed of the shutter member and the power supply means for supplying the driving energy to the shutter member are provided in such a manner that the output of the power supply means is varied in accordance with the output of the detecting means so as to maintain the displacement speed of the shutter member constant.

A sound motion picture projection system which can be formed by a combination of a silent film projector and a sound recording and reproducing unit, wherein a silent film projector and a separate sound recording and reproducing unit are provided and minor modification is given to said silent film projector so that said silent film projector can be used as a projection unit only with said minor modification. And especially in this system when said sound unit is attached to said projection unit and continuous film advancing means provided at said sound unit is connected with a driving motor provided at said projection unit through a power transmission mechanism, and at a same time an intermittent film advancing means provided at a projection unit is connected with a part of said power transmission mechanism through a power transmission mechanism of variable speed type, further an output member of a loop sensing means provided at the sound unit is connected with said variable speed power transmission mechanism, so that an operating speed of the intermittent film advancing means at the projection unit is controlled depending on the change in an amount of film loop formed between a projection station of the projection unit and a sound recording and a reproducing station of the sound unit.

Sound motion picture projection system

Disclosed is a sound motion picture projection apparatus in which a head pad is urged by a spring member toward a film pressing position at which position the head pad presses a film against a magnetic head disposed along the sound recording and reproducing film path. The apparatus has a set mechanism of the self-holding type which sets the head pad against the urging force of the spring member to a film pressure releasing position at which position the head pad releases the pressing of the film, by the driving force of a driving motor and keeps the head pad to that position. The apparatus further has a film detecting member which is disposed in said sound film path after the magnetic head and operatively connected with the set mechanism in such a manner that the holding of the head pad at the film pressure releasing position by means of the set mechanism is released when the film detecting member detects the film introduced into the sound film path and thereafter the setting operation of the set mechanism is made ineffective as long as the film detecting member detects that a film exists in the sound film path. Thereby when the set mechanism is driven by the driving motor when no film exists at least in the sound film path, the head pad is automatically set to the film pressure releasing position and then the head pad is automatically changed from the film pressure releasing position to the film pressing position when the film detecting member detects the introduction of the film into the sound film path.

Sound motion picture projection apparatus

The present invention relates to a lens unit construction for motion picture and other type projectors. The unit is provided with a motion picture projecting lens construction, a mantle cover to be fixed on the fixing position of the motion picture projector body, a guide device for slidingly guiding and holding the lens construction holding device on the device plate in such a manner that the construction holding device is slidable only along the direction of the optical axis of the lens construction and an adjusting device for operating the slide motion of the construction holding device. The construction holding device or the adjusting device is provided with a cam follower pin while the other is provided with a focus adjusting cam groove in which the cam follower pin is engaged. An engaging device guides the cam follower pin so that it can be easily introduced into the cam groove at the time of assembling the construction holding device with the adjusting device to form one body and for preventing the cam follower pin from being easily brought out of the cam groove in such a manner that the construction holding device is cooperatively coupled with the adjusting device.

Lens unit for motion picture projector and others

A sound motion picture projection apparatus provided with pressure pad means operable to press a film against magnetic sound recording and reproducing head means disposed along a path of the film for sound recording and/or reproduction. Urging means urge the pressure pad means toward its film pressing position. Externally operable means are provided for shifting the pressure pad means from its film pressing position to a released position against the urging force of the urging means. Releasable locking means are provided for holding the pressure pad means in the released position against the urging force of the urging means; and film detecting means are disposed in said sound film path behind the magnetic head means to detect introduction of the film into the sound film path and to release the locking of the pressure pad means by the locking means. Thereby, when film introduction into the film path for sound recording and/or reproduction is detected by the film detecting means, the pressure pad means is automatically changed from the released position to the film pressing position.

The present invention relates to a cine-projector so designed as to carry out the motion picture projection, the still picture projection, the quick film feeding as well as winding up by simultaneously controling the first clutch mechanism for selectively interrupting the engagement of the driving ower transmission mechanism with the feeding shaft rotated by means of the driving power of a motor rotating along a single direction through the driving power transmission mechanism by means of the translation mechanism to be translated at least into three positions in functional engagement with the operation mode change over mechanism for changing over the operation mode of the cine-projector, the second clutch mechanism for selectively interrupting the engagement of the driving power transmission mechanism with the winding up shaft rotated along the inversed direction as that of the above mentioned feeding shaft by means of the driving power of the above mentioned motor through the driving power transmission mechanism, the first control mechanism for controling the efficiency of the mechanism for intermittently feeding the film at the projection part and the second control mechanism for controling the binding mechanism for semi-compulsorily binding the film at the projecton part.

Cine-projector

A motion picture projector having various functions such as, projecting and rewinding, all of which can be selectively performed by a single control knob, and including an intermittent-drive film advancing mechanism which comprises a pull-down structure, a compound cam of an up-and-down cam wheel and an in-and-out cam disk, and first and second cam followers arranged between the pull-down structure and the compound cam to be consecutively operated so that the pull-down claw enters the perforations of the film and moves it in a forward direction always by the length of a frame and at a desired frequency through a film gate mechanism. The film gate mechanism consists of a film guideway, a resilient thin aperture plate self-biased to move away from the film guideway and defining an actual projection aperture, and a movable film gate member arranged on the opposite side of the aperture plate from the guideway and biased to urge the aperture plate for guidance and support of the film against the guideway. The pull-down structure and the film gate member have respective input means arranged to be consecutively actuable by a common mode changeover means cooperative with the control knob. The mode changeover means has at least three switched positions, that is, a first position for a normal projecting operation, a second position where the pull-down structure is maintained disengaged from the in-and-out cam follower to project a still picture, and a third position where the film gate member and the aperture plate are spaced from the film guideway to permit continuous transportation of the film at a far faster speed than that occurring in the normal projecting mode of operation.
