A container closure is composed of a closure body, an outflow tube, and an outer cap. The outflow tube is pivotably mounted on the closure body. The outer cap is mounted on the closure body pivotably between a closed position and an open position. When the outer cap is pivoted from the closed position toward the open position, the outer cap contacts the outflow tube located at the closed position to erect the outflow tube from the closed position to the outflow position. The outer cap is then separated from the outflow tube and brought to the open position. When the outer cap is pivoted from the open position toward the closed position, the outer cap contacts the outflow tube located at the outflow position to tilt the outflow tube from the outflow position to the closed position, and the outer cap is also brought to the closed position.

A plastic cap of this invention is opened by tearing-off and is comprising a top plate provided with a sealing portion to be engaged with the mouth of a container, a skirt extending perpendicularly from the top plate, and a tear-off portion arranged around the skirt and defining an upper closure portion for resealing and a lower opening band, wherein in the inner surface of the skirt, at an upper position than the tear-off portion, a diametrically inwardly-directed protrusion which is engaged with a jaw of the container is formed peripherally intermittently, simultaneously, at a lower position than the tear-off portion, a flap piece whose tip portion is engaged with the jaw of the bottle is formed peripherally intermittently, and the engaged protrusion and the flap piece are formed at least alternately in most of the peripheral direction. The plastic cap has excellent sealing reliability, easy openability, and tamper-evident property while the cap height is lowered and the resin weight of the resin is reduced.

Container closure

A cap comprises a cap body fitted and secured to the mouth of a container, an upper closure provided in the cap body, and a ring-like member which covers the outer surface of a skirt portion of the cap body. The ring-like member and the skirt portion are coupled together through breakable bridge portions. These two members are separated away from each other via cut surfaces but are intimately contacted to each other at the cut surfaces. The cap can be easily removed by hand from the mouth of the container, and can be separated from the container at the time of disposal.

A plastic container closure comprising a top panel, a skirt portion, an annular protruded portion that is formed inwardly from the inner surface of the top panel and on the inside of a portion near the root of the skirt maintaining a small gap therebetween, and a sealing liner that is fitted by press-molding on the inside of the top panel, wherein a substantially vertical portion is formed on said liner along the inner surface of the annular protruded portion, and sealing performance is maintained by the engagement between the outer edge of the mouth of the container and the substantially vertical portion. Since the sealing is accomplished over a surface having a predetermined width in the up-and-down direction, the sealing performance is not impaired even when the top panel is deformed by the pressure. Moreover, favorable sealing performance is maintained even against shock that is given to the container at the time of fitting the closure.

Method of producing a plastic container closure

A hinged cap comprising a cap body, an outer cylinder formed integrally with said cap body so as to cover the outer surfaces of said cap body and said skirt portion, and an upper closure coupled by hinges to the upper end portion of said outer cylinder, wherein the skirt portion of said cap body is provided with a plurality of slits extending in the axial direction maintaining a distance in the circumferential direction, the skirt portion of said cap body and said outer cylinder are separated away from each other via cut surfaces but are formed integrally together via a plurality of breakable bridge portions and are formed on the upper side or the lower side of the cut surfaces, and the outer surface of the skirt portion of the cap body and the inner surface of the outer cylinder are intimately contacted to each other at the cut surfaces in a state where at least the cap body is fitted to the mouth of the container. The cap has a highly reliable sealing structure and, after used, can be easily removed from the mouth of the container without using any tool. The cap can be produced through a series of steps and offers excellent tamper-evidence.

The resin cap of this invention comprises a cap proper provided with a skirt portion and a continuous ring member provided so as to cover the outer surface of the skirt portion of the cap proper. A plurality of axially extending cuts are circumferentially spaced in the skirt portion of the cap proper, and the skirt portion of the cap proper and the ring-like member are separated via a cutting surface, but are integrally formed via a plurality of frangible bridge portions or connecting portions upwardly or downwardly of the cutting surface. The outer surface of the skirt portion of the cap proper and the inner surface of the ring-like member are intimately adhered at a portion of the cutting surface. This cap can form a sealing structure having sealing reliability, and can be opened without using any particular tool. Furthermore, it has excellent tamper-evident characteristics.

A container closure includes a plastic shell, and a liner molded by fluidizing a plastic material within the shell. Depressions are formed at circumferentially spaced positions at an upper end portion of the inner peripheral surface of the skirt wall. The depressions each have a circumferential length increased radially outwardly at least in part thereof. The cross-sectional shape of the internal thread is defined by an upper side edge extending radially inwardly in an axially downwardly inclined manner, a lower side edge extending radially inwardly in an axially upwardly inclined manner, a front edge extending substantially vertically, two concave arcs, and two convex arcs.

A molding system for molding a plastic grip member and, at the same time, linking it to a linking protruding piece of a container closure body. The molding system comprises a rotary container closure body conveyor apparatus and a compression molding apparatus. The container closure body conveyor apparatus is provided with a rotary disc that has a plurality of container closure body-receiving portions formed therein and a rotation preventing mechanism that prevents the rotation of the container closure bodies held in the receiving portions. The compression molding apparatus has a mold constituted by a first mold portion and a second mold portion. The first mold portion includes a moving member that moves between a mold position and a separated position. The moving member has a supporting surface for supporting the skirt wall of the container closure body and a support projection for supporting the linking protruding piece of the container closure body. A moving member-moving mechanism is disposed to selectively move the moving member to the mold position or to the separated position.

A compression molding apparatus comprising a rotary compression molding means, a material feed means and an article carrying means. The rotary compression molding means includes a rotating supporting member mounted rotatably about its central axis, a plurality of molding die means mounted on said rotating supporting member at circumferentially spaced intervals, each of said molding die means having an upper die assembly and a lower die assembly cooperating with each other, at least one of the upper die assembly and lower die assembly being freely movable with respect to the other, a driving source for rotating said rotating supporting member in a predetermined direction and moving said molding die means through a circular conveying passage including a material charging zone, a molding zone, a cooling zone and an article discharging zone located successively, and a die opening and closing means for moving at least one of said upper and lower die assemblies in a predetermined manner with respect to the other according to the movement of the molding die means. The material feed means feeds a plastic material to the molding die means in the material charging means. The article carrying means carries the molded article from the molding die means in the article discharging zone.

A compression molding apparatus comprising a rotary compression molding means, a material feed means and an article carrying means. The rotary compression molding means includes a rotating supporting member mounted rotatably about its central axis, a plurality of molding die means mounted on said rotating supporting member at circumferentially spaced intervals, each of said molding die means having an upper die assembly and a lower die assembly cooperating with each other, at least one of upper die assembly and lower die assembly being freely movable with respect to the other, a driving source for rotating said rotating supporting member in a predetermined direction and moving said molding die means through a circular conveying passage including a material charging zone, a molding zone, a cooling zone and an article discharging zone located successively, and a die opening and closing means for moving at least one of said upper and lower die assemblies in a predetermined manner with respect to the other according to the movement of the molding die means.

The apparatus includes a pre-shaped article former for shearing with a rotary shearing blade a rectangular metal blank from the end portion of a thin metal strip and simultaneously blending it to form an annular pre-shaped article having overlapped opposite ends, a closure feeder as well as a pre-shaped article feeder for continuously positioning a container closure and the pre-shaped article to a rotating support member in such a relation that the free end portion of a tear-off tab of the closure and a part of the pre-shaped article overlap each other and a pull ring shaper and connecter for curling the peripheral edge of the pre-shaped article in the radial direction to form it into a ring and simultaneously rolling the tear-off tab into said ring and connecting them to each other.

A molding device for forming a liner on the inside surface of the top panel of a closure shell. The device has a molding tool disposed above an anvil which is relatively movable towards and away from the tool by an elevator mechanism. The molding tool includes a center punch. An annular bushing is positioned externally of the center punch and is movable over a predetermined range with respect to the punch. Resilient means are provided for urging the bushing upwardly with respect to the punch and a lowering mechanism is included for moving the bushing downwardly against the force of the resilient means.
