The present invention utilizes a dimmer switch for alternating the lighting direction of a vehicle headlamp, but does so utilizing control apparatus that ensures that only low beam-directed light is emitted by the headlamp when the headlamp is turned ON. The possiblity which might be presented if oncoming traffic is suddenly met with high beam-directed light when an automobile driver turns his headlamps ON is thereby averted.

Apparatus for controlling a vehicle headlamp

An apparatus for controlling a seatbelt system in which the distal end portion of a webbing is moved in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle by a motor, thereby allowing the webbing to be automatically fastened to and unfastened from the body of an occupant. The apparatus has a motor overload detecting circuit which detects an overloaded state of the motor by detecting a change in the current flowing through the motor. When the motor is overloaded, the motor is turned OFF. Accordingly, even when the occupant moves during the movement of the webbing and the webbing consequently interferes with the occupant's neck or head, it is possible to prevent the occupant from feeling uncomfortable and the motor from being burned out.

Apparatus for controlling seatbelt system

A turn indicator system for use in an automobile includes two sets of switches disposed around a steering wheel shaft for detecting, respectively, opposite directions of rotation of the steering wheel. The cancellation of an actuated turn indicator is carried out when the steering wheel, which has been rotated in one direction from its neutral position, is returned towards the neutral position.

A rotational direction sensor for a body such as a steering shaft of an automobile, which is rotatable from a preferred neutral position in either the clockwise or the anticlockwise rotational direction. When an actuating assembly is rotated in the clockwise rotational direction by more than a predetermined amount from the neutral position, a first switch is actuated so as to conduct a first electric current, while a second switch is not actuated, and when the actuating assembly is then returned to the neutral position in the anticlockwise rotational direction, the second switch is actuated to conduct a second electric current. An opposite switch actuation sequence occurs for initial anticlockwise and then clockwise rotation of the actuating assembly. A control circuit generates a first electric signal when it receives the first and then the second electric current as a pair and a second electric signal when it receives the second and then the first electric current as a pair.

Rotational direction sensor

A turn direction detector for detecting the turn of a steering shaft includes a first switch arrangement which is actuated in response to the clockwise rotation of the steering shaft, and a second switch arrangement which is actuated in response to the counterclockwise rotation of the steering shaft.

Turn direction detector for a steering shaft

A direction indicator blinker light switching arrangement for a motor vehicle of the type provided with an automatic cancelling mechanism, including a pivotal actuator mounted to the vehicle at a location separated from the cancelling mechanism. The switches are mounted to a bracket pivotally mounted about the steering shaft of the vehicle. The bracket is separately coupled to a cancelling cam through a ratchet disposed on the bracket and to the actuator through an elongated interconnection structure such as a cable, a pair of wires, a pivotal rod or a crank.

A turn direction detector for use in an automobile includes two sets of switch arrangements provided in association with a steering wheel shaft. One switch arrangement closes when a steering wheel is rotated clockwise and the other switch arrangement closes when the steering wheel is rotated counterclockwise. Turn direction detector for use in automobile

A traffic indicator for an automobile which may automatically cancel the flush signal on the indicator lamps without using a switch lever under electronic control. The traffic indicator comprises a sensor circuit for sensing the direction of the rotation of the steering wheel to provide cancel signals to a right latch circuit when the steering wheel gets from the right back to a point from a point at a certain distance from the neutral position, and to a left latch circuit when the steering wheel gets from the left back to a point from a certain distance from the neutral position. The interval of the flush signals from a flushing circuit may be changed by signals given from the outside such that a disconnection sensing circuit may be provided to change the interval of the flush signals in case of an emergency.

Traffic indicator

An automatic mounting and alarming circuit for a seat belt of a vehicle capable of automatically fastening the seat belt to a rider of the vehicle upon sitting on the seat, as well as warning the rider of a state where the seat belt is not or can not be fastened. The automatic fastening and alarming circuit includes a seat switch for detecting the sitting of the rider on the seat, a door switch for detecting the opening and closure of a door, an automatic fastening control circuit for supplying a releasing signal to an electromagnetic means to unlatch the retained seat belt upon judging the sitting state of the rider by detection signals delivered from both of the switches, a fastening detection switch for detecting the suitably fastened state of the seat belt to the rider and an alarming circuit for generating alarm information to the rider upon detection of the not-fastened state of the seat belt by detection signals delivered from the seat switch and the fastening detection switch. The automatic fastening and alarming circuit further includes a vehicle speed detection circuit having a hysterisis characteristic which generates alarm information to the rider when the vehicle speed exceeds a predetermined value with the seat belt not being fastened.
