A reflective polarizing film for a liquid crystal display polarizer that has a high polarization performance and eliminates a hue shift at an oblique azimuth of 45&#xb0;, a polarizer for a liquid crystal display composed of the same, an optical member for a liquid crystal display, and a liquid crystal display are provided. In a reflective polarizing film for a liquid crystal display polarizer composed of a uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film in which a first layer and a second layer are alternately laminated, the reflective polarizing film has a polarization degree of 99.5% or more and an amplitude of a transmittance waveform of 2.0% or less in a wavelength range of 450 to 650 nm measured with respect to the polarized light incident at an incident angle of 60&#xb0; on an incident plane including an azimuth angle of 45&#xb0;, among polarized light components parallel to the transmission axis.

Provided are a biaxially stretched laminated polyester film and a laminated glass composed of the same. Specifically, the invention is achieved by a biaxially stretched laminated polyester film including 51 layers or more in total, in which a first layer and a second layer are alternately laminated, wherein a polyester (A) constituting the first layer is polyethylene-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate; a polyester (B) constituting the second layer is a polyester containing at least one of an ethylene terephthalate component and an ethylene naphthalene dicarboxylate component; an average reflectance within a wavelength range of 400 to 750 nm is not more than 25%; an average reflectance within a wavelength range of 800 to 1,200 nm is 50% or more; and a Young's modulus of the film at 90&#xb0; C. is 2,400 MPa or more in at least one direction of the longitudinal direction and the lateral direction of the film.

A flame-retardant biaxially oriented polyester film is obtained by imparting flame retardancy to a polyester film itself using a phosphorus flame retardant, a flame-retardant polyester film laminate is formed from the same, and a flexible circuit board is provided. The present invention is obtained from a flame-retardant biaxially oriented polyester film which contains, based on the weight of the polyester film, 70 to 99.5% by weight of polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene naphthalate, and 0.5 to 30% by weight of flame retardant particles having an average particle diameter of 0.5 to 3.0 &#x3bc;m and being represented by a specific phosphinate or diphosphinate, wherein the number of coarse particles having a maximum length of 10 &#x3bc;m or more contained in the polyester film is 10/mor less.

Flame-retardant biaxially oriented polyester film, and flame-retardant polyester film laminate comprising the same and flexible circuit board

Provided is a uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film including a first layer and a second layer alternately laminated each other, wherein the first layer is a layer containing a polyester, the polyester containing an ethylene naphthalate unit in an amount of 50 mol % or more and 100 mol % or less on a basis of a repeating unit that constitutes the polyester, and a polymer that forms the second layer is a copolymer polyester containing, as copolymer components, a 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid component, an ethylene glycol component, and a trimethylene glycol component, (A) the content of an ethylene naphthalate unit in the polyester of the first layer being 80 mol % or more and 100 mol % or less on a basis of the repeating unit that constitutes the polyester, or (B) the polymer that forms the second layer being the copolymer polyester further containing, as a copolymer component, an alicyclic diol component.

Uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film, and optical member comprising same

A uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film that exhibits a high polarization performance of 99.5% or more in a simpler configuration than before, a polarizing plate that is composed of the same, an optical member for a liquid crystal display device, and a liquid crystal display device are provided. Namely, in the uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film in which a first layer and a second layer are alternately laminated, the uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film includes an intermediate layer that has a thickness of 2 &#x3bc;m or more and 30 &#x3bc;m or less; the first layer is composed of a polyester containing a naphthalene dicarboxylic acid ester; the second layer is composed of a copolymer polyester and is an optically isotropic layer that has an average refractive index of 1.50 or more and 1.60 or less; the first layer, the second layer, both first and second layers, or the intermediate layer contains a visible light absorbent, which has a weight loss of less than 10% when it is kept at 300&#xb0; C. for 1 hour, in an amount of 200 ppm or more and 2500 ppm or less on the basis of the weight of the layer; the uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film has a polarization degree of 99.5 or more; and the average transmittance Ts for S-polarized light in a wavelength range of 400 nm to 800 nm is 60% or more.

Uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film, polarizing plate comprising same, optical member for liquid crystal display device, and liquid crystal display device

A multilayered reflective polarizing film is provided that has high polarization performance comparable to that of an absorption-type polarizing plate, and is preferred as a polarizing plate attached to a liquid crystal cell. An optical member for liquid crystal display devices, and a liquid crystal display device formed from such a multilayered reflective polarizing film are also provided. Specifically, the reflective polarizing film includes a uniaxially stretched multilayered film in which a specific aromatic polyester containing (alkylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid as a part of dicarboxylic acid components is used as a first layer, and an optically isotropic polyester having an average refractive index of 1.50 to 1.60 is used as a second layer, and that has a predetermined refractive index difference between the layers. The reflective polarizing film has an angle of orientation of 2 degrees or less.

A uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film includes 251 or more layers in which a first layer and a second layer are alternately laminated, wherein the first layer is composed of a polyester containing a 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid component; the second layer is composed of a thermoplastic resin having an average refractive index of 1.60 or more and not more than 1.65 and having negative optical anisotropy or isotropy; an S polarization component has an average reflectance of 90% or more relative to the incident polarized light at an angle of incidence of 0 degree and 50 degrees, respectively; and a P polarization component has an average reflectance of not more than 15% relative to the incident polarized light at an angle of incidence of 0 degree and an average reflectance of 20% or more relative to the incident polarized light at an angle of incidence of 50 degrees.

Uniaxially stretched multi-layer laminate film

A multi-layer stretched film has 251 or more alternating layers which consist of first layers and second layers, wherein the first layers are made of a polyester which contains (i) 5 to 50 mol % of a naphthoic acid component as a dicarboxylic acid component and (ii) a diol having an alkylene group with 2 to 10 carbon atoms as a diol component; and the second layers are made of a thermoplastic resin having an average refractive index of 1.50 to 1.60 and differences in refractive index among a uniaxial stretching direction, a direction orthogonal to the uniaxial stretching direction and a film thickness direction of 0.05 or less before and after stretching, and the film has specific reflectance characteristics for a P polarization component and an S polarization component.

Multi-layer stretched film

A laminated film obtained by carrying out anti-reflection processing on the surface of a reflection polarizing film. This laminated film comprising (A) a monoaxially oriented laminated film consisting of 501 or more alternating first layers made of a first thermoplastic resin having a positive stress optical coefficient and a thickness of 0.05 to 0.5 &#x3bc;m and second layers made of a second thermoplastic resin different from the first thermoplastic resin and having a thickness of 0.05 to 0.5 &#x3bc;m, and a low-reflectance layer formed on at least one side of the monoaxially oriented laminated film and having a reflectance of the surface measured from the input side of 3% or less.

Anti-reflection multi-layer laminated film

A film composed of a number of layers having different refractive indices and alternately laminated one upon another has characteristic optical properties by light interference. Conventional films having such structure have problems of poor interlaminar adhesivity and low tear strength. The problems are solved by a film having the following constitution. A biaxially drawn multilayer laminated film is composed of alternately laminated 1st layers and 2nd layers at a total layer number of 11 or more. Each layer has a thickness of 0.05 to 0.5 &#x3bc;m. The 1st layer is made of a crystalline thermoplastic resin and the 2nd layer is made of a crystalline thermoplastic resin having a composition different from that of the resin constituting the 1st layer. The maximum light reflectance of the film within the wavelength range of 350 to 2,000 nm is higher than the base line reflectance obtained from a light reflectance curve within the wavelength range of 350 to 2,000 nm by 20% or more.

Biaxially drawn multilayer laminated film and method for producing the same

A near-infrared ray shielding film which has high adhesion between layers, is substantially transparent, can shield a wide near-infrared region at a high level and is free from electromagnetic interference. This near-infrared ray shielding film is a multi-layer laminated film consisting of a first laminated film portion and a second laminated film portion, each consisting of first layers and second layers alternated with each other, and the average thickness of all the layers of the second laminated film portion is 1.05 to 1.6 times the average thickness of all the layers of the first laminated film portion.

An image display screen which is composed of a multi-layer film consisting of at least 11 layers and formed by alternately laminating first thermoplastic resin layers having a thickness of 0.05 to 0.03 &#x3bc;m with second thermoplastic resin layers having a thickness of 0.05 to 0.3 &#x3bc;m and a parallel ray transmittance of 50% or more, and which has at least a reflection peak with a maximum reflectance 5 to 80% higher than the base line of reflectance and a half-value width of 20 to 200 nm in its reflectance curve for visible light having a wavelength of 380 to 780 nm, and an image display device comprising the same as a screen. This screen has improved transparency while maintaining the definition of an image.

A near infrared screening film which consists of a biaxially oriented film made from a polyester containing a near infrared light absorber having a weight reduction start temperature of at least 280&#xb0; C. and which has a haze value of 5% or less and a total transmittance for visible lights having a wavelength of 400 to 650 nm of 40% or more and which is exemplified by having optical properties at visible and near infrared ranges which satisfy the following expressions (1) to (4):1&#x3c;(850)&#x3c;20&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)1&#x3c;(950)&#x3c;20&#x2003;&#x2003;(2)&#x2212;10&#x3c;(620)&#x2212;(540)&#x3c;10&#x2003;&#x2003;(3)&#x2212;10&#x3c;(450)&#x2212;(540)&#x3c;10&#x2003;&#x2003;(4)wherein T(450), T(540), T(620), T(850) and T(950) are light transmittances at wavelengths of 450 nm, 540 nm, 620 nm, 850 nm and 950 nm, respectively. This film is inexpensive, has high handling ease, a high visible light transmittance and the function of preventing the malfunction of peripheral equipment caused by near infrared lights from the screen of a plasma display, for example, and can be suitably used in the front panel of the plasma display.

A biaxially oriented polyester film, an adhesive film, or a colored hard coat film for application to CRT or liquid crystal display devices to improve contrast and color purity, characterized in that the film contains a coloring matter; (1) a wavelength (X) of the maximum absorption peak of light in wavelengths of 540 to 630 nm is in the range of 560 to 610 nm; (2) a half band width of the maximum absorption peak of the light is not more than 80 nm; a value (T /T ), obtained by dividing a light transmittance (T ) at the wavelength (X) by a light transmittance (T ) at a wavelength of 540 nm, is less than 0.80; a value (T /T ), obtained by dividing a light transmittance (T ) at the wavelength of 620 nm by a light transmittance (T ) at a wavelength of 540 nm, is in the range of 0.5 to 1.5; and a value (T /T ), obtained by dividing a light transmittance (T ) at the wavelength of 450 nm by a light transmittance (T ) at a wavelength of 540 nm, is in the range of 0.5 to 1.5.
