An optical detector for flowing sample comprises a light condenser for condensing a diverging monochrome light, a flow cell arranged in the course of convergence of the converged light beam, and a sample-side detector for receiving a sample-side light. Such a construction makes it possible to correct delicate changes of the light axis due to intensity, position, temperature changes of the light source, density change of the flowing liquid, and any change of other causes effectively for stable sample analysis without difficult optical adjustment.

Catecholamines in a living body fluid are analyzed by a process which involves reacting a living body fluid sample with a boron compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydroxyl, aryl or alkyl, to form a complex of the boron compound with a catecholamine; deproteinizing the reaction solution containing the complex; decomposing the complex to release the catecholamine; labeling the released catecholamine to form a labeled catecholamine; eluting the labeled catecholamine adsorbed on a separation column; and detecting the eluted, labeled catecholamine. Advantageously, this process enables catecholamines to be measured with a high recovery ratio and high accuracy by forming the catecholamines into a complex with a boron compound.

Method for analysis of catecholamine

A liquid chromatography system and a method of utilizing the same, comprising a plurality of separated-component vessels for collecting components eluted in a separation column, a flowing system conduit for component extraction through which the components separated in the separation column are individually delivered to the separated-component vessels. The system further comprises a flowing system conduit for sample introduction through which any of the separated components collected in the plurality of separated-component vessels is selectively drawn from its vessel and introduced to the upstream side of the separation column. The present invention allows a plurality of components in a sample of a mixture to be individual collected, and also allows any of the collected components to be re-separated selectively and automatically.

Liquid chromatography system and method for separation of pre-separated

An analyzing apparatus provided with a spectroscopic photometer, in which light emitted by a deuterium lamp enters a flow cell; light transmitted by the flow cell is divided into two light beams by means of a beam splitter, one of which is received by a detecting element for sample measurement and the other of which is received by a detecting element for monitoring through a filter transmitting only light in a predetermined wavelength region, which is not essentially absorbed by the sample; and a signal processing device compares the output signal of the detecting element for sample measurement with that of the detecting element for monitoring and effects necessary operations.

Spectroscopic photometer for flow through sample absorption

A low pulsation pump device has a pulse motor, two plungers adapted to be driven by the pulse motor, a pressure sensor disposed on the output side of the plungers, a storage for storing values of pressures detected by the pressure sensor during each of a number of periods, a high speed region during which the rotational speed of the pulse motor is increased. The pulse control has an optimization function which determines, on the basis of pressure information which was obtained during the last period, the location of a high speed region in each period in such a manner as to reduce pulsations.

Low pulsation pump device

An absorption photometer for measuring the absorption by conducting the light to a thin flow cell in which a liquid sample flows, wherein the sample light for measuring the absorption peak is superimposed on the reference light selected from the transparent (window) range of the liquid and the absorbance is detected by separating the sample light and reference light after transmission of the flow cell. Changes in the light path conditions can be monitored accurately, and therefore high-accuracy measurement immune to noises is made possible even using an elongated flow cell.

Absorption photometer

Light from a light source is dispersed by a grating. Two multichannel light detectors are arranged for detecting the dispersed light. One light detector detects the first order of interference and the other light detector detects the second order of interference in overlapping wavelength ranges. The outputs of the two light detectors are averaged for improving the S/N ratio, particularly in wavelength ranges in which the light intensity of the light source is low.

Multiwavelength spectrophotometer

A spectrophosphorimeter with a single spectrometer so as to obviate the need of a couple of spectrometers of conventional spectrophosphorimeters, wherein one spectrometer is operated as an excitation-side spectrometer only when the light is allowed to pass a light interceptor, and the other spectrometer works as a phosphorescence-side spectrometer only when the light is substantially interrupted. The single spectrometer is used on the excitation side when the light is allowed to pass and on the phosphorescence side when the light is interrupted.

Spectrophosphorimetry

A double monochrometer comprises a main monochrometer including a plane grating and an auxiliary monochrometer including a concave grating. The concave grating is disposed on the entrance or exit optical axis of the main monochrometer. Preferably, the angular dispersion of the concave grating is selected to be smaller than that of the plane grating. Sine bars for rotating the concave and plane gratings for wavelength scanning can be driven by means of a single feed screw mechanism even if the lengths of the sine bars are made different from each other in accordance with a difference in angular dispersion between the concave and plane gratings.

Double monochrometer

A fluorimeter comprises an excitation optical system projecting the excitation light having a selected wavelength for a sample to said sample, a sample cell for accommodating the sample; fluorescent light sensors for sensing the fluorescent light emitted from the sample; a transmission light sensor for sensing the light transmitted through the sample; and an arithmetic divider which divides the output of the fluorescent light sensor by the output of the transmission light sensor, and provides a signal representing the intensity of the fluorescent light which is corrected against the variation of the excitation light intensity.

Fluorimeter

A fluorescence spectrophotometer comprising a light source, an excitation side monochromator which makes light from the light source be subjected to spectroscopic analysis for illuminating as actinic light a sample, a fluoroscence side monochromator which makes fluorescence light from the sample be subjected to spectroscopic analysis, a detector which detects light from the fluorescence side monochromator, and a scanning means which adjusts both the monochromators to the wavelengths of the actinic light and the fluorescence light to be scanned. These monochromators are arranged in such a way that one of them is automatically set to the location of the peak wavelength value which is detected by itself through a simple and automatic wavelength scanning operation and then the other is wavelength-scanned for excitation spectrum or fluorescence spectrum measurement.

Fluorescence spectrophotometer

In order to provide a spectrofluorometer which measures the emission polarization spectrum of a sample at high precision and with ease, a first spectrum signal I.sub.HV (.lambda..sub.EM) and a second spectrum signal I.sub.HH (.lambda..sub.EM) are formed by scanning the wavelength of an emission monochromator. A third spectrum signal I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) and a fourth spectrum signal I.sub.VV (.lambda..sub.EM) are also formed. In these terms, the first suffix H of the signals means that excitation light irradiated at the sample has a horizontal polarization direction while the first suffix V of the signals means that excitation light irradiated at the sample has a vertical polarization direction. The second suffix H of the signals means that fluorescence light detected by the detector has a horizontal polarization direction. The second suffix V of the signal means that fluorescence light detected by the detector has a vertical polarization direction. Using these signals the spectrofluorometer produces a signal G(.lambda..sub.EM) representative of the ratio between the signal I.sub.HV (.lambda..sub.EM) and the signal I.sub.HH (.lambda..sub.EM). Also, a correction signal G(.lambda..sub.EM).multidot.I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) is formed of the ratio signal G(.lambda..sub.EM) and the third spectrum signal I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM). Then, a signal I.sub.VV (.lambda..sub.EM)-G(.lambda..sub.EM).multidot.I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) representative of the difference between the correction signal G(.lambda..sub.EM).multidot.I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) and the fourth spectrum signal I.sub.VV (.lambda..sub.EM) is divided by a signal I.sub.VV (.lambda..sub.EM)+G(.lambda..sub.EM).multidot.I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) representative of the sum between them. The resulting signal ##EQU1## is indicated as the emission polarization spectrum by the spectrofluorometer.
