A post-processing apparatus includes a conveyance path, a buffer unit, a post-processing unit, and a processor. The conveyance path receives a sheet conveyed from a conveyance apparatus in a stage preceding the post-processing apparatus. The buffer unit forms a sheet bundle constituted by sheets. The post-processing unit loads the sheet bundle performs post-processing on the sheet bundle. The processor controls conveyance of the sheets and the sheet bundle and obtains, in a case of a delay amount, a delay amount of the sheet conveyed from the conveyance apparatus in the stage or a delay amount of a preceding other sheet bundle conveyed from the buffer unit to the post-processing unit. The processor sets a shift amount between plural sheets based on the delay amount obtained by the at least one processor.

Method for conveying sheet in post-processing apparatus

A sheet processing apparatus includes a stacking portion on which sheets targeted for sheet processing are stacked. In the apparatus, a control unit generates, in a buffer section provided in a conveyance path for conveying sheets to the stacking portion, a sheet bundle in which positions of sheets conveyed on the conveyance path are shifted in sequence to an upstream side in a conveyance direction and overlapped. An alignment unit performs alignment processing in the conveyance direction on the sheet bundle stacked on the stacking portion. A processing unit performs sheet processing on the sheet bundle on which the alignment processing has been performed. An information processing method performs steps for an information processing apparatus to communicate with an image forming apparatus having first and second sheet output sections. The second sheet output section can be switched between a close position to serve to guide a sheet to the first sheet output section, and an open position not to guide the sheet to the first sheet output section but to stack the sheet. The method inputs a type of sheet, acquires information indicating whether the second sheet output section is in an open or closed state, and transmits image information to the image forming apparatus. When the sheet type recommends the sheet be output to the second sheet output section and the second sheet output section is in the closed state, a message is output to prompt to switch the second sheet output section into the open position before the image information is transmitted.

A sheet conveyance apparatus includes a switching member to execute a pivot operation and a conveyance portion to convey a sheet at a first conveyance speed where a driving motor rotates at a first rotational speed, and to convey the sheet at a second conveyance speed which is greater than zero and slower than the first conveyance speed where the driving motor rotates at a second rotational speed which is greater than zero and slower than the first rotational speed. Where a control portion conveys a first sheet at the first conveyance speed, the switching member executes the pivot operation at the second operating speed before the first sheet arrives at the switching member and the conveyance portion, and rotates the driving motor at the first rotational speed after the pivot operation has been executed and before the first sheet arrives at the conveyance portion.

To prevent jamming with small-sized print materials without disturbing an image located at a trailing end of a print material, an image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum that carries a toner image, a transfer device which can apply a transfer bias to the transfer roller to transfer the toner image to a print material passing through the transfer nip portion, and a control device for controlling a transfer bias set value set in order to apply a predetermined transfer bias to the transfer roller. The control device switches a first transfer bias set value to a second bias set value smaller than the first transfer bias set value while the print material is passing through the transfer nip portion, in order to change the transfer bias applied to the transfer roller.
