The click mechanism comprises a spring made of a plate material and disposed on a rotatable plate that rotates integrally with a rotationally-manipulated shaft of an electric part; two cylindrical click pieces disposed on an outer perimeter of the rotatable plate in positions forming an angle of 180&#xb0; with respect to each other so as to retractably protrude from the positions at different heights on the outer perimeter in an axial direction; and projections and depressions formed on an inner perimeter of a housing in a circumferential direction, in two upper and lower tiers in the axial direction. The projections and depressions in the two upper and lower tiers are staggered and the two click pieces are biased by the spring to be in resilient contact with the projections and depressions.

An easy-to-design rotary operation type electronic component is provided. The component includes a columnar control shaft; a shaft supporter having a circular through shaft hole; an electrical signal control section which is attached to one end of the shaft supporter and allows an electrical signal to be controlled by rotary operation of the control shaft; and a cylindrical spring which is held in a spring holding space formed between the outer periphery of the control shaft and the inner periphery of the through shaft hole, and has a ring shape with an opening cut in the direction of the central axis. The cylindrical spring includes a plurality of leaf spring portions which extend in the direction of the central axis of the control shaft, are connected together in the circumferential direction of the control shaft, and are arranged on the outer periphery of the control shaft.

A rotary switch includes a rotor that is insert molded so upper and lower contact pieces have a predetermined number of contact regions with a predetermined angular width in each of a plurality of annular zones defined by a plurality of concentric circles and are stacked in a disk part. The contact pieces are exposed in two surfaces of the disk part, an upper contactor holder and a lower contactor holder are placed to cover a lower half and an upper half of the disk part of the rotor. A plurality of elastic contacts are brought into elastic contact with lower and upper side surfaces of the disk part in a plurality of annular zones, and a rotating operation shaft is inserted through the rotor, the lower contactor holder, and the upper contactor holder, and can rotate the rotor.
