An improved lower cost sight glass and a method for producing the same is disclosed, whereby the sight glass is made by placing a transparent component in secure contact with a metallic ring. The contact may optionally be effectuated by temporarily altering the relative dimensions of the metallic ring and the transparent component, placing the transparent component into the inner space of the metallic ring, and then reversing the altered relative dimensions of the metallic ring and the transparent component. A hermetic seal is formed between the transparent component and the metallic ring is by the application of an inorganic sealing compound.

Sight glass and low temperature method of manufacturing the same

Several embodiments of a hermetic terminal assembly are disclosed and an associated method. The terminal assembly includes a metallic body that has body a bottom portion. The bottom portion includes an interior surface, an exterior surface and at least one opening. The terminal assembly also includes a current-conducting pin extending longitudinally through the opening, and a prefabricated dielectric retainer receiving the pin and covering at least a portion of the interior surface and surrounding at least a portion of the opening. The terminal assembly includes a dielectric epoxy bonding to the body, the retainer and the pin, and providing a seal between the pin and the opening in the bottom portion through which the pin is extending. In another embodiment, the prefabricated retainer may be omitted entirely.

Hermetic terminal assembly and associated method of manufacture

A hermetically sealed current conducting terminal assembly for installation in an opening in the wall of a housing. The terminal assembly includes a current conducting pin assembly comprising a first pin member electrically connected to a second pin member at a conductive core and a first and second seal that electrically isolate the pin assembly from the housing.

Hermetically sealed current conducting terminal assembly

A connector block adaptable to engage with a terminal assembly of a hermetically sealed compressor, including a circular substantially flat surface that has a plurality of holes adaptable to receive the electrical conductor pins mounted inside the terminal assembly when the connector block is engaged with the terminal assembly. At least partially surrounding the circumference of at least one of the holes is a protrusion located on the substantially flat surface. The circular substantially flat surface defines a connector lip erected around its perimeter. This connector lip is designed to cover the open end of the cap of the terminal assembly and to surround the electrical conductor pins so as to minimize possible electrical arcing. The connector lip is fisher designed to seal the open end of the cap of the terminal assembly such that no particles from the hermetically sealed compressor could enter into the cap of the terminal assembly.

Connector block having at least one protrusion, for a terminal assembly

A hermetic or semi-hermetic terminal assembly having a cup-shaped body portion with a generally flat bottom wall and at least one opening in the bottom wall defined by an annular lip extending into the cup. One current conducting pin extends through each opening and beyond the lip on both ends of the body portion, the inner end of the pin being on the dish side of the cup-shaped body portion, and the outer end on the outer side of the body. A resilient plastic material is molded into place within the body portion to bond the pin to an inside surface of the lip with a hermetic seal. The plastic extends beyond the face of the body portion and bonds to the pin to provide the desired air path between the respective pins and each other and/or the face of the body portion.

Hermetic terminal assembly

A hermetic terminal assembly including a body member with a bottom portion and a surrounding boundary or flange portion with at least one current conducting pin sealed in an opening in the bottom portion. The hermetic terminal assembly may include an over-surface stratum or disk disposed in close fit relation in said body member in facing relation with said bottom and flange portions and/or an electrically insulating coating.

A hermetic terminal assembly including a body member with a bottom portion and a surrounding boundary or flange portion with at least one current conducting pin sealed in an opening in the bottom portion and an over-surface stratum or disk disposed in close fit relation in said body member in facing relation with said bottom and flange portions and having disk retention means therefore, and preselectively sized and positioned fuse-like burn-off apertures in the current conducting pin to interrupt current conductivity at selected times, temperatures and amperage density.

Hermetic terminal retainer structure

A connector block adaptable to engage with a terminal assembly of a hermetically sealed compressor, including a circular substantially flat surface that has a plurality of holes adaptable to receive the electrical conductor pins mounted inside the terminal assembly when the connector block is engaged with the terminal assembly. The circular substantially flat surface defines a connector lip erected around its perimeter. The connector lip is further designed to seal the open end of the cap of the terminal assembly such that no particles from the hermetically sealed compressor could enter into the cap of the terminal assembly. In one embodiment, the connector lip has an inside diameter that is slightly larger than the outside diameter of the open end of the cap.

A hermetic terminal assembly including a body member with a bottom portion and a surrounding boundary or flange portion with at least one current conducting pin sealed in an opening in the bottom portion and an over-surface stratum disposed in said body member in close proximity facing relation with said bottom and boundary portions, and having stratum holding material therefor.
