A vacuum interrupter is equipped with a vacuum container and fixed and movable electrodes provided in the vacuum container. The vacuum container is constructed by hermetically respectively joining fixed-side and movable-side end plates to one and the other end portions of an insulating tube. The insulating tube is equipped at its end portion with a projection portion that projects in an axial direction of the insulating tube along an outer periphery of the insulating tube. The insulating tube is equipped at its end portion with an end plate joining portion that projects from a base end portion of the projection portion inwardly in a radial direction of the insulating tube. The end plate joining portion is equipped on its surface with a metallized layer to which the fixed-side or movable-side end plate is joined by brazing.

Vacuum interrupter

A vacuum interrupter () includes a tubular insulating case () extending along a longitudinal axis (AA), two conducting caps () each securely fixed at an open end of the tubular insulating case () at a sealing area () to form a tightly sealed chamber (). The vacuum interrupter is characterized in that the tubular insulating case () is shaped so as to enclose the conducting caps () and extend beyond the caps () along its longitudinal axis (AA).

Circuit interrupting device

An exemplary vacuum interrupter for a circuit breaker arrangement including a cylindrically shaped insulating part, within which a pair of electrical contact parts are coaxially arranged and surrounded concentrically by the insulating part. The electrical contact parts can be configured to initiate a disconnection arc only between corresponding inner contact elements after starting a disconnection process, and corresponding outer contact elements can be configured to commutate the arc from the inner contact elements to the outer contact elements until the disconnection process is completed, wherein each inner electrical contact element is designed as a TMF-like contact element for generating mainly a transverse magnetic field, and each outer electrical contact element is designed as an AMF-like contact element for generating mainly an axial magnetic field.

Vacuum interrupter for a circuit breaker arrangement

An exemplary vacuum interrupter arrangement for a medium voltage circuit breaker includes a vacuum housing within which a pair of electrical contacts are coaxially arranged and concentrically surrounded by the cylindrical shaped vacuum housing. The electrical contacts are formed as a type of TMF-contacts, each having a slotted cup-shaped contact part which is attached to the distal end of a contact shaft and which is covered by a contact ring disposed on a rim of the cup-shaped contact part, wherein each cup-shaped contact part is provided with a vertical inward bending towards the contact ring. The outer diameter of the bottom section of the cup-shaped contact part is larger than the outer diameter of its rim section, in order to alter the Lorentz force to a respective inward direction.

Vacuum interrupter arrangement for a medium voltage circuit breaker with cup-shaped TMF-contacts

A contact assembly and a vacuum circuit breaker for interrupting an electrical current are disclosed. The contact assembly includes an outer field generating element for generating a first axial magnetic field (AMF), and an inner field generating element for generating a second AMF opposite to the first AMF. The inner field generating element can be coaxial with the outer field generating element and can have a smaller diameter than the outer field generating element. The outer field generating element can be cup-shaped and slotted with non-radial slots to generate the first AMF. The contact assembly can include an innermost conducting element for nominal current conduction and coaxially adjusted with the inner field generating element.
