The present disclosure provides watermelon plants with a male sterile phenotype and their progeny. Such plants may comprise an introgressed genomic region associated with a male sterile phenotype. In certain aspects, compositions, including distinct polymorphic molecular markers and methods for producing, breeding, identifying, and selecting plants or germplasm with a male sterile phenotype are provided.

Methods and assays for male sterile watermelon

The invention relates to a melon plant, and parts thereof including seeds and fruit, that is resistant to Zucchini Yellow Mosaic Virus (ZYMV) and Watermelon Mosaic Virus (WMV). The melon plant may further comprise resistance to Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV) and/or further display a Brix measurement of &#x2265;9.5&#xb0; Bx, orange flesh color, and/or a fruit width to length ratio of &#x2265;0.5. Melon plants with improved disease tolerance

The present disclosure provides melon plants exhibiting resistance to powdery mildew, aphids, and cucumber vein yellowing virus (CVYV). In certain embodiments, the invention provides melon plants with powdery mildew, aphid, and CVYV resistance loci located in cis linkage on chromosome 5.
