A system includes a battery pack having a first battery module, a second battery module, and a busbar that couples the first and second battery modules; a battery management controller having a first wireless transceiver; and a battery monitor coupled to the first battery module and to the busbar. The battery monitor includes monitoring circuitry configured to receive a first indication of a parameter of the first battery module; a second wireless transceiver configured to provide the first indication to the battery management controller via a wireless connection to the first wireless transceiver; and a busbar voltage circuit configured to receive a second indication of a voltage across the busbar, and, responsive to the second indication being greater than a voltage threshold, provide a first signal to the second wireless transceiver to cause the second wireless transceiver to be in a higher-power state.

Reduced power wireless battery management system

Apparatus and method for controlling a pyro-fuse. A pyro-fuse control system includes a current sensing circuit and a diagnostic circuit. The current sensing circuit is configured to determine whether the current flowing in conductor exceeds a threshold current. The diagnostic circuit is coupled to the current sensing circuit. The diagnostic circuit is configured to determine whether an indication of current exceeding the threshold current generated by the current sensing circuit is caused by current flowing the conductor and is not caused by a fault in the current sensing circuit.

Pyro-fuse circuit

A device includes a current monitor, an electronic switch, an energy harvester, and a load controller. The current monitor monitors current drawn by a load coupled to the device and generate an alert signal in response to the monitored current exceeding a predefined threshold value. The electronic switch decouples a battery from the load in response to the alert signal, the electronic switch being electrically disconnected from a negative terminal of the battery coupled to the device. The energy harvester stores energy from the battery while the load is drawing current from the battery. The load controller receives, from the energy harvester, the stored energy from the energy harvester and generates a voltage to power the current monitor to reset the alert signal while the battery is decoupled from the load.
