Exemplary apparatus for coupling to a probe and providing information regarding at least one structure can be provided. For example, the apparatus can include an electronics arrangement which is configured to obtain the information and transmit the information wirelessly, and a structural connection configuration which is structured and configured to be attached to the probe. The electronics arrangement can include a detector arrangement which is configured to detect at least one return radiation from at least one portion of at least one sample based on the predetermined patterns, and provide the data for the portion(s) based on the return radiation(s). In addition, a computer arrangement can be provided which is configured to generate the information with includes image data for the portion(s) as a function of the data and prior knowledge of the predetermined patterns.

Imaging apparatus and method which utilizes multidirectional field of view endoscopy

An exemplary apparatus for imaging at least one anatomical structure can be provided. For example, the apparatus can include an endoscopic first arrangement, a radiation source second arrangement which provides at least one electro-magnetic radiation, and a third arrangement attached to at least one portion of the endoscopic arrangement. The third arrangement can contain an optical arrangement which, upon impact by the at least one electro-magnetic radiation and based thereon, may transmit a first radiation and reflects a second radiation. The first radiation can impact at least one first portion of the anatomical structure(s), and the second radiation can impact at least one second portion of the anatomical structure(s). The first and second portions can be at least partially different from one another. Further, the first and second radiations can have characteristics which are different from one another.

Methods and systems are provided for delivering content from a website to a computer device. The website and computer device negotiate terms for use of a cache memory coupled to the computer device. The computer device requests content, such as web page objects, from the website. In addition to transmitting the requested content, the website transmits non-requested content to the computer device. The non-requested content is stored in the cache memory for later retrieval by the computer device.

Disclosed is a method and a device, that includes a programmed data processor, to process image data. The method includes, for a plurality n of files each containing image data representing one of n images, selecting one file as a base file; selecting as a target file an image data file that is contextually-related file to the base file; comparing the target file and the base file to determine differences therebetween; and storing the target file as a reduced file that is a representation of differences between the image data of the target file and the image data of the base file. An image data file is selected as being contextually-related to the base file based on at least an image capture location, and/or on an image capture time, or based on a user input. Storing can be performed in a memory device that is a part of a wireless communications device, such as a cellular telephone or a personal communicator that includes a digital camera, such as a camera phone.

Method and apparatus to provide efficient multimedia content storage

A tomosynthesis method for creating a three-dimensional reconstruction of a target element volume acquires radiation absorbance images of the target element volume through a limited plurality of positions. The target element volume is divided into a plurality of volume segments and a reconstruction algorithm is applied to each segment to generate a three-dimensional reconstruction of each volume segment. The three-dimensional reconstruction of each volume segment is then merged to create a three-dimensional reconstruction of the target volume. A tomosynthesis system and a computer program product for carrying out tomosynthesis are also provided.

Multi-segment cone-beam reconstruction system and method for tomosynthesis imaging

A peripheral equalization (PE) method and apparatus for compensating for thickness reduction in outer edges of the breast in a mammogram (i.e. a two-dimensional image) while keeping the central area substantially unchanged. The PE method and apparatus can also be applied to three dimensional (tomosynthesis) images of a breast. The peripheral equalization is achieved by segmenting the image of the breast into at least two regions and using a multi-threshold technique to process the data in at least one of the two regions.

A novel approach is provided for avoiding the 'slow-start restart' in TCP communications when network conditions dictate such. The disclosed approach serves to overcome the latency related to the 'slow-start restart' by assessing network conditions and avoiding the &#x201c;slow-start restart&#x201d; when network conditions justify the avoidance. The disclosed methods, applications and devices implement the periodic communication of a probe packet that is generated and transmitted from a TCP sender to a TCP receiver during the period that the TCP network connection remains idle. Receipt of the probe packet by the TCP receiver will trigger transmission of an acknowledgment message by the TCP receiver. Upon receipt of the acknowledgement message the TCP sender will restart measurement of the idleness period and, as such the &#x201c;slow-start restart&#x201d; is avoided.

Methods and applications for avoiding slow-start restart in transmission control protocol network communications

A system for three-dimensional tomosynthesis imaging of a target element includes an image acquisition element and a processor. The image acquisition element obtains a plurality of images of the target element from a plurality of angles and includes a radiation source that is positionable at a plurality of angles with respect to the target element and a radiation detector. The radiation detector is positioned so as to detect radiation emitted by the radiation source passing through the target element and determine a plurality of attenuation values for radiation passing through the target element to establish a radiation absorbance projection image of the target element for a particular radiation source angle. The processor is configured to apply an iterative reconstruction algorithm to the radiation absorbance projection images of the target element obtained from a plurality of radiation source angles to generate a three-dimensional reconstruction of the target element.

Tomosynthesis imaging system and method

Systems and methods are provided for delivering content in a communications system. A communications system is provided that includes a plurality of terminals and a content director. The terminals are adapted to communicate via a communications network, and are each capable of requesting and thereafter receiving content via the communications network. The content director, on the other hand, is capable of receiving a request for content from one terminal. The content director can then push the content to the terminal based upon the request, and push the content to at least one other terminal before the other terminals request the content. Each terminal can have an associated user interest correlation with each other terminal. In such instances, the content director can push the content to other terminals based upon the user interest correlation of the other terminals with respect to the terminal requesting the content.

Content delivery architecture for mobile access networks

A network element is deployed in a network of interconnected elements. The network element includes a shared buffer multiplexer connected to a link, a set of regulators connected to the shared buffer mulitplexer, and an admission control unit communicatively coupled to the set of regulators and the shared buffer multiplexer. Each of the set of regulators has an input traffic flow. Each traffic flow has a varying flow rate. In order to control admission of the traffic flow to the link in the network element, the admission control unit evaluates the traffic flowing into each regulator. For each traffic flow, the admission control unit receives an envelope of the flow input to the regulator. The admission control unit maximizes the entropy of a distribution of the rate of flow over all time scales. The admission control unit determines the maximum-entropy distribution for the flow using information derived from the traffic envelope, including bounds of the mean rate, the minimum rate, and the maximum rate. The admission control unit approximates the rate variance of the maximum-entropy distribution for a given maximum rate. The admission control unit makes an admission control decision based on the approximated rate variance for the given maximum rate. If the flow is admitted, the flow is set up and transmission begins.
