This application provides a fault detection method, an apparatus, and a system. The method includes: A transmit end apparatus includes, when sending a border gateway protocol BGP message used for advertising a route, a bidirectional forwarding detection discriminator BFD discriminator configured by the transmit end apparatus, to trigger a receive end apparatus to automatically create an SBFD session used for detecting reachability of a target object associated with the transmit end apparatus, where the target object may be a locator address or a next-hop address of the route.

Implementations of the subject matter described herein provide a solution for speech synthesis and speech recognition. In this solution, a Text to Speech (TTS) model and an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) model supporting at least one language are obtained. The TTS model and the ASR model are adjusted, based on a first set of paired data in a target language, to support the target language. The TTS model is optimized based on the first set of paired data and a first set of synthesized paired data in the target language generated by the ASR model while the ASR model is optimized based on the first set of paired data and a second set of synthesized paired data in the target language generated by the TTS model. As such, the solution can provide TTS and ASR models with high accuracy for languages lacking training data by using less training data.

A method for estimating quantitative precipitation by combining observation data of a weather radar and rain gauges includes: acquiring original accumulated data of rain gauges and original accumulated precipitation data of a weather radar to obtain rain gauge-weather radar data G/R pairs matched in the same grid; calculating an observation error of the original accumulated precipitation data of the weather radar through the G/R pairs, and detecting abnormal data to generate an initial correction factor field; determining whether a distance correlation exists between the initial correction factor field and the observation error, and if yes, adjusting the initial correction factor field, and correcting the original accumulated precipitation data of the weather radar through the adjusted correction factor field to obtain corrected accumulated precipitation data of the weather radar; and if not, obtaining the corrected accumulated precipitation data of the weather radar directly through a mean field bias (MFB) factor.

A method and system for generating a search result for a query of hierarchically organized documents based on retrieval of subtrees that are key resources for topic distillation is provided. The retrieval system may identify documents relevant to a query using conventional searching techniques. The retrieval system then calculates a subtree feature for subtrees that have an identified document as their root. After the retrieval system calculates the subtree feature for the subtrees, the retrieval system may generate a subtree relevance score for each subtree based on its subtree feature. The retrieval system may then order the identified documents based on their corresponding subtree relevances.

Topic distillation via subsite retrieval

The present invention provides an improved method for ranking documents using a ranking model. One embodiment employs Continuous Conditional Random Fields (CRF) as a model, which is a conditional probability distribution representing a mapping relationship from retrieved documents to their ranking scores. The model can naturally utilize features of the content information of documents as well as the relation information between documents for global ranking. The present invention also provides a learning algorithm for creating Continuous CRF. Also provided, the invention introduces Pseudo Relevance Feedback and Topic Distillation.

A method and system for determining the contribution of a document within a hierarchy of documents based on the contribution of descendant documents is provided. The contribution system provides a hierarchy of documents that specifies the ancestor/descendant relations between documents. For each document of a hierarchy, the contribution system determines the contribution of each document factoring in the contribution of descendant documents. The contribution may be the relevance of a document to a topic, a feature of a document, and so on.

This disclosure describes various exemplary methods, computer program products, and systems for selecting features for ranking in information retrieval. This disclosure describes calculating importance scores for features, measuring similarity scores between two features, selecting features that maximizes total importance scores of the features and minimizes total similarity scores between the features. Also, the disclosure includes selecting features for ranking that solves an optimization problem. Thus, this disclosure identifies relevant features by removing noisy and redundant features and speeds up a process of model training.

Procedures for learning and ranking items in a listwise manner are discussed. A listwise methodology may consider a ranked list, of individual items, as a specific permutation of the items being ranked. In implementations, a listwise loss function may be used in ranking items. A listwise loss function may be a metric which reflects the departure or disorder from an exemplary ranking for one or more sample listwise rankings used in learning. In this manner, the loss function may approximate the exemplary ranking for the plurality of items being ranked.

A method and system for projecting queries and images into a similarity space where queries are close to their relevant images is provided. A similarity space projection ('SSP') system learns a query projection function and an image projection function based on training data. The query projection function projects the relevance of the most relevant words of a query into a similarity space and the image projection function projects the relevance to an image of the most relevant words of a query into the same similarity space so that queries and their relevant images are close in the similarity space. The SSP system can then identify images that are relevant to a target query and queries that are relevant to a target image using the projection functions.

A method and system for ranking importance of vertices of a directed graph based on links between the vertices and some prior knowledge of importance of the vertices is provided. A ranking system inputs an indication of the vertices along with an indication of the links between the vertices as the directed graph. The ranking system generates a transition-probability matrix that represents the probability of transitioning from vertex to vertex. The ranking system then generates a ranking of the vertices based on the links between the vertices represented by the stationary distribution of the transition-probability matrix that is minimally perturbed to satisfy the prior knowledge, which may be a partial ranking of the vertices.
