A communication system is disclosed in which communication resources are dynamically partitioned into a plurality of slices, each slice having at least one associated network-level performance requirement. A network-level performance requirement is translated into cell-level resource requirement(s) for determining, based on the cell-level resource requirement(s), whether to admit a slice instance. When the slice instance is admitted, information identifying the cell-level resource requirement(s) for the slice instance is provided to a scheduler function. The cell-level resource requirement(s) for a given slice instance may be used to determine an associated packet delivery deadline and entitled resource amount before deadline. The scheduler function allocates communication resources to each admitted slice based on an earliest-deadline-first method.

Communication system

A small cell communication system is disclosed in which an apparatus (e.g. a central controller) controls allocation of frequency resources in the cells. The apparatus obtains respective information (e.g. RSRP) representing a quality of communication at each user equipment (UE) in the cells; determines, based on the received information, whether a corresponding UE is a subject of interference and, when the corresponding UE is a subject of interference, identifies at least one aggressor causing the interference to that UE. In each cell, the UEs served by that cell are grouped such that UEs having a common aggressor (or common aggressors) are grouped into respective group(s), and any UEs not subject to interference are grouped into another group. The apparatus allocates at least one frequency for each UE based on the respective group into which that UE has been grouped.

Communication system with allocating frequencies to interfered user equipments

A communication system is disclosed in which an NR radio access network (RAN) node identifies resources, that the NR RAN node is to use for transmissions, for protection from interference from another RAN node. The NR RAN node sends, to the other RAN node, information indicating the identified resources for protection from interference. The information indicating the identified resources comprises a list of parameters, typically including resource bitmaps, based on which the other RAN node is able to determine the resources for protection from interference.

Method for coordination of resources between a next generation radio access network node and at least one further RAN node

A wireless telecommunication system is described comprising a shared base station able to divide resources between multiple network operators sharing the base station. The base station resources are divided into sets of resources reserved for each network operator respectively and resources shared by all network operators. The shared base station is configured to monitor the usage of its resources by each operator and to determine, for each scheduling round, an appropriate prioritization of communication bearers associated with the network operators.

A wireless telecommunication system is described comprising a shared base station able to divide resources between multiple network operators sharing the base station. The base station resources are divided into resource pools having their own set of sharing rules and associated scheduling method that may be configured independently for each resource pool. A number of techniques are described that may be used to ensure flexibility and fairness of access to the base station resources for the multiple network operators.
