A garment de-wrinkling device () comprises an enclosure () for moistening garments (). An ironing board () and an adjacent standby area (), which are both permeable to steam, are arranged on top of the enclosure (). During operation of the device (), the ironing board () and a steam iron () are used to iron garments () which have first been moistened inside the enclosure (). In the process, steam released by the iron () penetrates the garments () and enters the enclosure () through the ironing board (). In this way, both the garments () on the ironing board () and those inside the enclosure () are treated by means of steam that is released by the iron (), and steam is used in an efficient manner. A pressed look is obtained in that the garments () are subjected to a moistening process and a subsequent steam ironing process.

Device for de-wrinkling garments

An iron comprising a housing (), a heatable soleplate () and means for generating very fine liquid droplets to be expelled from at least one discharge opening () of the iron, said means comprising at least one air passage () for pressurized air supply and at least one liquid passage () for pressurized liquid supply, said air passage () and said liquid passage () communicating with each other for mixing air and liquid, said mixture of air and liquid being supplied to the discharge opening (). To improve the generation of fine liquid droplets (mist) an outlet of the liquid passage () ends into the air passage () upstream of the discharge opening () to introduce liquid into the air passage and an outlet of the air passage is provided with a nozzle () having said discharge opening (). Preferably the pressurized air and liquid supply is obtained by means of electric pumps (). The liquid may be water or a (diluted) additive liquid.
