Provided is a composite material that shows a low specific dielectric constant, and that hardly causes an appearance failure or changes in characteristics when exposed to, for example, a treatment liquid to be used in the production of an electronic circuit board. Specifically, a plate-like composite material including polytetrafluoroethylene and a predetermined filler, and satisfying a predetermined condition serves as a composite material that shows a low specific dielectric constant, and that hardly causes an appearance failure or changes in characteristics even when exposed to, for example, a treatment liquid to be used in the production of an electronic circuit board.

Described herein are novel azo-benzene type chromophores. The chromophores are useful in photochromic compositions comprising a polymer matrix and a chromophore, wherein the chromophore is a novel azo-benzene type structure. The photochromic composition is photoresponsive upon irradiation by at least one wavelength of laser light across the visible light spectrum. Photochromic devices which comprise the novel azo-benzene type chromophore compound show significantly higher photoinduced birefringence, higher diffraction efficiency, and brighter images than devices that comprise well known azo-benzene chromophores. The photochromic composition may include a liquid crystal.

There is provided a photocatalyst sheet comprising a base material and a photocatalyst layer containing at least a photocatalyst, wherein the photocatalyst layer is firmly adhered to the base material. In an embodiment, there is provided a photocatalyst sheet comprising a base material; and a photocatalyst layer that contains at least a photocatalyst, and is formed on at least one surface of the base material through an aerosol deposition method. This photocatalyst sheet has an excellent photocatalytic activity and an excellent adhesion.

Described herein are devices for providing drinking fluid from feed sources comprising: a first reservoir, a filter for mechanically removing particles and a second reservoir for receipt of the processed feed fluid. A continually disinfecting element is disposed in either or both reservoirs to remove additional materials from the fluid. Drinking fluid is provided in a portable device. Optional light sources are provided to interact with the disinfecting elements and/or provide an indication of the contained suitability of such disinfecting elements. A method for creating drinking fluid from a feed source is also disclosed.

In one aspect of the invention, a method of synthesizing a lithium metal phosphate composite usable for a lithium secondary battery includes the steps of forming a nanometer-size precursor comprising lithium source and metal phosphate nanoparticles having each nanoparticle at least partially coated a layer of carbon precursor, spray drying the nanometer-size precursor at a first desired temperature to form micron-size particles packed with the lithium metal phosphate precursor nanoparticles, and sintering the micron-size particles at a second desired temperature under an inert and/or reduction atmosphere to form a micron-size lithium metal phosphate composite.
