Methods and systems are described for generation of a smooth, engaging transition from one media source to another or from one portion of a media source to another portion of the media source. In response to a request to change display of content from a first source to a second source, a first decodable frame of the second source is determined before completion of decoding a first segment of the second source. During the decoding of the second source, a transition based at least in part on the first decodable frame of the second source is generated for display. In response to completion of the decoding of the first segment of the second source, the second source is displayed without the transition. Artificial intelligence systems, including neural networks, and models are utilized to improve the transition. Related apparatuses, devices, techniques, and articles are also described.

Client-side decoding and playout at channel changes

Systems and methods are provided for predictive mesh coding based on a centroid-normal (C-N) representation. An encoder generates C-N representations of a high-resolution (hi-res) mesh and a downscaling of the mesh (lo-res mesh), each representation having respective centroids and normals. The encoder generates predicted centroids corresponding to the hi-res mesh based on the lo-res centroids using a centroid prediction model. The encoder generates predicted normals corresponding to the hi-res mesh based on the predicted centroids and lo-res normals using a normal vector prediction model. Residuals are computed for the respective predicted geometry data. The encoder transmits encodings of the lo-res mesh and the residuals for decoding at a client device.

Systems and methods relate to improving image quality of panoramic images. A system generates for display on a device, a user interface for capturing a panoramic image, receives image data from a camera of the device from a plurality of view angles, and generates for display on a device a preliminary panoramic image based on the image data. The system determines that a position corresponding to a particular view angle of the preliminary panoramic image is problematic, and in response to the determining, generates for display an indicator for the preliminary panoramic image prompting for the camera of the device to be repositioned to the particular view angle of the preliminary panoramic image that was determined to be problematic.

Systems and methods are provided for enhancing playback of stereoscopic media. The dominant eye of a viewer is identified, and the lower-quality media channel segment of received stereoscopic media is also identified. In response to the lower-quality media channel being mapped to the dominant eye of the viewer, the left-eye media in the left-eye media channel is mirrored to generate a mirrored right-eye media, and the right-eye media in the right-eye media channel is mirrored to generate a mirrored left-eye media. In the stereoscopic media, the left-eye media is replaced with the mirrored left-eye media, and the right-eye media is replaced with the mirrored right-eye media to generate a modified stereoscopic media. The modified stereoscopic media is then displayed to a viewer to provide a higher quality viewing experience.

An audible output of a vehicle is controlled based on a variety of driving characteristics and ambient conditions. In response to receiving an indication of a triggering of an activator of a horn of a vehicle, the system determines a driving characteristic of the vehicle based on vehicle sensor data. Then, based on the driving characteristic(s) determined, and/or based on the ambient conditions, an audible output tune is automatically set for output by the vehicle. A tune and volume of the audible output selected when the driving conditions and ambient conditions indicate an emergency situation will be different from the tune and volume selected for a non-threatening situation. Also, an audible output tune may be selected to be output at a later time when the vehicle reaches a destination to signal a person at the destination that the vehicle has arrived.

One embodiment provides a data structure utilized for implementing a plurality of multimedia applications. The data structure includes a first metadata level including low-level metadata used to perform operations associated with media data in a bitstream. The data structure includes a second metadata level including mid-level metadata used to apply operation metadata to render the media data. The data structure includes a third metadata level including upper-level metadata used to utilize the low-level metadata and the mid-level metadata to deliver the plurality of multimedia applications. The first metadata level further includes synchronization metadata for converting the media data, the low-level metadata, the mid-level metadata, and the upper-level metadata from a first multimedia application of the plurality of multimedia applications to a second multimedia application of the plurality of multimedia applications.

At a server, a request is received for a media asset for interaction on a haptic enabled device. The server transmits to the haptic enabled device a version of the media asset comprising haptic feedback rendering criteria compatible with the haptic enabled device. The version of the media asset is comprised of graphics and haptics rendering criteria transmittable over a current network connection strength between the server and the haptic enabled device and also incorporates user interaction data. The haptic enabled device renders the version of the media asset based on the haptic feedback settings.

Systems and methods are provided that allow a server of a first content service provider, to send a query to a server of another service provider. The query includes a user ID and list of content IDs related to media content available on the first service. In response to the query, the server of the second service retrieves personalized content ratings for each content item associated with the list of content IDs, where the personalized content ratings are generated by a recommendation model of the second service. The personalized content ratings are transmitted back to the first service and displayed on a first service user interface.

Systems and methods are described for replacing an object being presented in a livestream with a secondary object that is personalized to a user that is consuming the livestream and rendering the livestream with the secondary object are described. The methods identify a target object in a livestream based on certain selection factors. A secondary object that is contextually related to the target object and selected based on selection factors is selected. A 2D-to-3D conversion of the scene description is performed to generate a 3D model. A replacement option is selected. The attributes of the secondary object based on its 3D model are matched with attributes of the target object based on its generated 3D model. Quality checks and scalability options are explored. The livestream is re-rendered with the secondary object having replaced the target object.

Offset parameters for a conformance window, a reference region of interest (ROI) in a reference layer, and a current ROI in a current layer are received. The width and height of a current ROI and a reference ROI are computed based on the offset parameters and they are used to generate a width and height scaling factor to be used by a reference picture resampling unit to generate an output picture based on the current ROI and the reference ROI.

Systems and methods are provided for object extraction from images influenced by depth of field settings. Through control circuitry, an image subjected to a prior segmentation operation is acquired. A subsequent segmentation operation is performed, modulating the depth of field setting to its extreme values, producing two distinct segmented images. From these, an in-focus object is derived, forming delineated representations. A similarity index between representations is computed. If this index exceeds a specified threshold, the in-focus object is extracted from the original image using the control circuitry.

Systems and methods are described for enabling a lensless camera having an image sensor and a mask to be positioned behind a display screen of a device, which allows for the device to have an increased screen-to-body ratio. The image sensor captures an image based on the light that travels through the display screen and the mask. The display screen may include portions between pixel elements that allow light to pass through. The mask may include a pattern, such as an opaque material with portions that allow light to pass through from the portions of the display layer to the image sensor. The image captured by the image sensor may be indiscernible to humans. The system may utilize a trained machine learning model to reconstruct the image, using data about the pattern of the mask, so humans may visually recognize features in the image.
