Storing locally a file received from a remote location

In a support service for computing devices or software (or other service), a determination is made based on an incident report that additional data is needed. A first template is chosen from a set of templates and that chosen first template is customized for the particular incident to create a data collection plan. The data collection plan includes a set of data collection items. The data collection plan is forwarded to a user client device associated with the incident report. At the user client device, a user can choose to proceed with all or a subset of the data collection items. Data is then collected for the selected data collection items. The user is then provided with the opportunity to select which of the collected data to upload back to the support service. The collected data is then uploaded, and the incident status is updated and made available.

Troubleshooting to diagnose computer problems

Given a destination(s) and search criteria, the destination(s) is searched to identify files that satisfy the search criteria. For each such file, a file identifier (such a uniform resource locator (URL)) is added to a reference page. This document also describes, in one example, receiving indications of a destination to be searched and a set of search criteria and, responsive to receiving these indications, searching a destination to identify one or more web pages at the destination that satisfy the search criteria and generating a reference page that includes an identifier of each of the one or more web pages.

Searching to identify web page(s)

Given a destination(s) and search criteria, the destination(s) is searched to identify files that satisfy the search criteria. For each such file, a file identifier (such a uniform resource locator (URL)) is added to a reference page. One or more of the individual files can then be accessed by selecting the corresponding file identifier from the reference page. Additionally, a list of file identifiers (e.g., such as a reference page) is used to automatically access the corresponding files. During the automatic accessing process, the list of file identifiers is parsed and the corresponding files accessed one by one. A variety of different actions can be taken in accessing a file, such as displaying the contents of the file to the user and/or saving the contents of the file to a local storage device for subsequent usage.
