A system and method for identifying compromised systems, even where cyber security measures are in place, continuously monitors system parameters against a set of predefined thresholds. If the system violates those thresholds, either instantaneously or over a period of time, the system determines that unknown processes are using the system; those processes may be unauthorized processes loaded via a successful spoof attack. The system may monitor CPU usage, power usage, temperature, memory access, data storage access, data transmission rates, etc. The system may execute some remedial action when unauthorized processes are suspected.

A fly-back circuit includes a voltage source, a transformer comprising a primary winding electrically coupled to the voltage source and a secondary winding electrically coupled to a load, a diode connected between the secondary winding and the load, a switch electrically coupled to the primary winding, a controller operable to open and close the switch to control energy transfer from the primary winding to the secondary winding; and a voltage monitor connected to a node between the secondary winding and the diode. The voltage monitor includes a processor that generates a variable threshold tracking voltage (Vthtracking), generates an output signal that is a toggling output when voltage at the node is above Vthtracking and a constant output when the voltage source is operating below Vthtracking and increases Vthtracking when the output signal is toggling until the output signal is not toggling.

In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a system includes a main control device, including one or more of: a serial peripheral interface, a direct memory access, a central processing unit, a timing peripheral module, and/or a variable peripheral module, configured to output one or more excitation signals to a displacement measuring device, and an intermediate control module operatively connected between the main control device and the displacement measuring device configured to control communication of the one or more control signals from the main control device to the displacement measuring device based at least in part on a timing control signal from the timing peripheral module.
