An intra-oral imaging apparatus for obtaining a contour image of a tooth has a fringe pattern generator energizable to emit a fringe pattern illumination. The fringe pattern generator has (i) at least one structured light source that is energizable to emit a patterned light beam; (ii) at least one reflective element in the path of the emitted patterned light beam and actuable to rotate about an axis to scan the emitted patterned light beam along a tooth surface as fringe pattern illumination. A detector is configured to acquire one or more images of the fringe pattern illumination from the tooth surface. A control logic processor is configured to control the fringe pattern generator for illuminating the tooth and to obtain and process the one or more images acquired by the detector.

Dental surface imaging apparatus using laser projection

The present invention related to an auto focus intraoral camera. The auto focus intraoral camera includes an illumination module for providing illuminating light, an imager, and a lens system for collecting light reflected from an object and focusing the light onto the imager, wherein said lens system further comprises at least one liquid lens including a vessel filled with a first liquid, and a second liquid being in contact with said first liquid, the first and second liquids being immiscible, of different optical indexes, and of substantially same density; wherein the lens system further includes a driver integrated circuit applying variable voltage to control the focal length of said lens. According to the present application, a compact auto focus intraoral camera with a small size and simple structure is provided, which decreases the camera complexity and improve the performance.

A photostimulable plate reading device. The device includes: at least one photostimulable plate carrying image data and having two opposite surfaces; an illuminator for homogeneously illuminating a first one of the two opposite surfaces of the at least one photostimulable plate with light emitted in a first wavelength range, the illumination causing the at least one photostimulable plate both to emit light in a second wavelength range by photostimulated luminescence and to scatter light in the first wavelength range; a filter for preventing the light scattered in the first wavelength range from passing and for allowing the light emitted in the second wavelength range to pass, the filter facing a second one of the two opposite surfaces of the at least one photostimulable plate; and a detector composed of a two dimensional array of pixels for detecting the light allowed to pass and for obtaining image data therefrom.

An auto-focus camera has an optical system for forming an image of a target, a moveable sensor for recording a set of one or more images of the target, the set of one or more images corresponding to a set of one or more positions for the moveable sensor, and a linear piezoelectric actuator mechanically coupled to the moveable sensor for driving the moveable sensor to the set of one or more positions along a predetermined moving direction in response to a stimulus. A driving system is actuable to generate the stimulus to drive the piezoelectric actuator. An image processor, in response to stored instructions, obtains the set of one or more recorded images from the moveable sensor, processes the set of one or more obtained recoded images, and identifies the image that is in focus.
