Overhead traveling vehicle system

Guide tracksprojecting in a vertical direction are provided in a right and left of a running trackand left and right guide rollersare provided on a track guided vehicle and guided using inner surfaces of the left and right guide tracks. Branching rollerseach comprising elevating and lowering means are provided in the right and left of the track guided vehicle and outside the right and left guide tracks. Thus, branching and rectilinear progression of the track guided vehicle is controlled by switching between a state where the branching rollersare elevated or lowered to guide the track guided vehicle using outer surfaces of the guide tracksand a state where the branching rollersdo not contact with the outer surfaces. Whether the track guided vehicle runs straight or shifts to a branch line can be controlled by contacting one of the branching rollerswith the outer surface of the corresponding guide tracks, which guide the guide rollersin the section (rectilinear progression section) different from the branching portion

A height sensorand an image recognizing sectionare installed in a teaching unit; the height sensorcontacts a pinon a load portto detect the height position of the pinand the image recognizing sectionrecognizes a pinand thus its horizontal plane position. Then, the teaching unitis slightly raised. The horizontal plane position of the pinis recognized and averaged over a time equal to at least the vibration period of the platform. As a result, the position of the load port can be accurately taught to the overhead travelling carriagewithout preparations such as the installation of marks on the load port.

A guide rail having cables for non-contact power feeding is laid on a floor in a clean room, and the guide rail serves to guide each of guide rollers of a tracking cart , and the cable serves to feed electrical power to a pickup coil of a tracking cart . This construction gives a tracking cart system that is easy to construct and easy to alter a layout thereof and is structurally compact and intrinsically clean.

A work transport system having an overhead travelling carriage that runs along a rail arranged near the ceiling, arranged with a storage rack member upon which work may be loaded, between the floor and the rail. As the storage rack member upon which work may be loaded is arranged between the floor and the rail, the space of the processing station and floor may be decreased and the transfer time of the work by the overhead travelling carriage may be reduced.

Work transport system

An overhead travelling carriage is provided wherein three drums are arranged on a base of a hoist unit along the sides of an imaginary equilateral triangle. Two motors and a brake are arranged along imaginary lines which join the imaginary center of the imaginary equilateral triangle where a hypoid gear of the hoist unit is positioned and the imaginary apices of the imaginary equilateral triangle. The rotation of the hypoid gear is transmitted to a spur gear on the drum side of the spur gear in order to drive the drum. As a result, the hoist unit of the overhead travelling carriage may be reduced in size.

Three suspension points 20-22 are arranged in the shape of an equilateral triangle on a vertically movable table 16 and two cables 23-28 are attached to each. Three pairs of hoist members 10/11/12 are arranged on the main body 4, and each hoists a cable from two suspension points. While preventing oscillation and twist of the vertically movable table and making guide poles unnecessary, high speed vertical rising and lowering is possible.
