A semiconductor layer of a drive transistor includes a first channel region, and a first doped region and a second doped region that are doped with an impurity, the first doped region adjacent to the first channel region is constituted by a high concentration region, and the second doped region is constituted by a low concentration region adjacent to the first channel region and a high concentration region adjacent to the low concentration region, and a drive current flows from the first doped region to the second doped region in a light emission period of a light-emitting element.

Display device and method for manufacturing display device

A display device includes: a plurality of pixel circuits each including a retention capacitor and a drive transistor. Each of those two of the plurality of pixel circuits which are adjacent in a row direction has a first opening in a capacitor line around a first contact hole in a plan view. A retention capacitor is at least partially provided in an overlapping region of a capacitor electrode and the capacitor line. The capacitor line has a second opening between two adjacent first openings and includes a first connecting line and a second connecting line opposite each other in a column direction across the second opening.

A first pixel circuit and a third pixel circuit are connected to a first scan signal line, and a second pixel circuit and a fourth pixel circuit are connected to a second scan signal line. Of two first pixel circuits connected to a common, first scan signal line, a capacitive element in the first pixel circuit in a group that is located farther in a row direction from a center of a display area has a larger capacitance value than does a capacitive element in the first pixel circuit in a group that is located closer.

Arrangement of pixel circuts in a display device

In a display device, a pixel circuit includes a light-emitting element, a drive transistor, a write control transistor provided between a data line and a first conductive terminal of the drive transistor and having a control terminal connected to a scanning line, a threshold compensation transistor provided between the drive transistor's control terminal and second conductive terminal and having a control terminal connected to the scanning line, and an initialization transistor having a first conductive terminal connected to the control terminal of the drive transistor, a second conductive terminal to which an initialization voltage is applied, and a control terminal connected to the control line. A scanning line driver circuit selectively performs operations of selecting the scanning lines in a predetermined order and in a reverse order and, for each scanning signal line, selects the control line that corresponds to the scanning line one horizontal period before the selection of the scanning line. This renders it possible to initialize voltages at the control terminals of the drive transistors and thereby readily display a screen upside down.

Display device and method for driving same

A display device includes: a semiconductor layer; a gate insulating film; a first display wire; a first interlayer insulating film; a second display wire; a second interlayer insulating film; and a third display wire stacked on a substrate in this order, pixel circuits being provided corresponding to intersections of data signal lines and scanning signal lines included in the third display wire, each of the pixel circuits including a first transistor and a second transistor in which any one of the scanning signal lines overlaps the semiconductor layer through the gate insulating film, one terminal of the first transistor and one terminal of the second transistor are connected together through a connector included in a conductor region of the semiconductor layer, and the connector includes an overlap connector overlapped in a plan view with the data signal lines through a constant potential wires included in the first display wire.

A display device includes a first subpixel including a light-emitting layer of a first color, a second subpixel adjacent to the first subpixel in a row direction or a column direction, the second subpixel including a light-emitting layer of a second color, and a third subpixel adjacent to the first subpixel and the second subpixel in a diagonal direction, the third subpixel including a light-emitting layer of a third color, wherein the first subpixel to the third subpixel include light-emitting regions that are geometrically similar to one another, the light-emitting regions of two of the first subpixel to the third subpixel are in the same size, and a light-emitting region of remaining one of the first subpixel to the third subpixel is larger than the light-emitting regions of the two of the first subpixel to the third subpixel.

The monitoring control section increases the execution frequency of the property measuring process with an increase in the sensed temperature.

Display device and driving method therefor

In a data line drive/current measurement circuit, m measurement units are disposed in a plurality of semiconductor chips such that the m measurement units are distributed among the plurality of semiconductor chips. A display apparatus includes transistors such that one transistor is provided for two adjacent semiconductor chips. Inter-chip correction data indicating a variation among the semiconductor chips in terms of characteristics of elements in the measurement units is determined based on a result of a current measurement performed for the same transistor using measurement units disposed in different semiconductor chips. The inter-chip correction data is stored in a storage unit and is used in correcting an image signal. The inter-chip correction data may be determined based on a result of measuring a current flowing through a common cathode of organic EL elements for each semiconductor chip. Thus, a variation in the characteristic of the element among the semiconductor chips is compensated for and high image quality is achieved in displaying.

Display apparatus and driving method therefor

A measurement circuit includes a plurality of measurement units, performs, at a same timing, a main measurement for measuring a current or a voltage with respect to a pixel circuit with supplying a measurement voltage to a part of the measurement units and a dummy measurement for measuring a current or a voltage with supplying a dummy signal to remaining measurement units, and performs a calculation on a result of the main measurement and a result of the dummy measurement. As the dummy signal, a signal with which a value to be measured is approximately zero is used. The measurement result of the current or the voltage is used for correcting a video signal. With this, a display device which can remove noise in measurement when measuring the current or the voltage with respect to the pixel circuit is provided.

Display device and drive method therefor

A high-speed-drive liquid crystal display device easily applicable to dot inversion driving is provided. Gate lines (GLto GL) each has a shorter drive time in one frame than each one of gate lines (GLm to GL(m+5) and GL(n&#x2212;5) to GLn).

The organic EL display device includes: a current monitoring section that measures a current flowing in a circuit element and outputs a digital measured value in accordance with the measured current; and an averaging section () that calculates an average value of a plurality of input values. The current monitoring section measures the current flowing in a circuit element in each pixel circuit a plurality of times in a fixed amount of time. For each pixel circuit, the averaging section () receives a plurality of measured values outputted from the current monitoring section in a fixed amount of time as a plurality of input values and outputs an average value of the plurality of digital measured values as a value for use in compensation computation to compensate for degradation of the circuit element.

Display device and method of driving same

A current measurement circuit measures a current flowing through a drive transistor when a plurality of measurement voltages are written to a pixel circuit in a switching manner, and a current flowing through an organic EL element when another plurality of measurement voltages are written to the pixel circuit in a switching manner. A correction unit obtains a threshold voltage and a gain of the drive transistor and the organic EL element with respect to each pixel circuit based on a measured current, determines in which operation region the drive transistor operates between a saturation region and a triode region with respect to each pixel circuit based on the video signal, and corrects the video signal in accordance with the operation region of the drive transistor. Since the drive transistor operates both in the saturation region and the triode region, it is possible to reduce a power supply voltage and reduce power consumption of a display device.
