The present technique relates to an information processing apparatus, a method, and a program allowing for easily controlling video synchronization in image data transmission. The information processing apparatus according to the present technique includes a synchronization cancellation unit configured to cancel synchronization between synchronization timing of a network to which image data are transmitted and synchronization timing of the image data, on the basis of a delay time of image data transmission, an adjusting unit configured to adjust synchronization timing of the image data of which synchronization with the synchronization timing of the network is cancelled by the synchronization cancellation unit, and a synchronization connection unit configured to synchronize the synchronization timing of the image data, which is adjusted by the adjusting unit, with the synchronization timing of the network. A camera system having a plurality of camera pairs is provided. Each pair may have a camera control unit and a camera head unit respectively connected together by way of an asynchronous transmission network. The camera system may also have a central processing unit configured to obtain a video signal delay amount, representative of a time delay between a respective camera control unit and its respective camera head unit, for each of the plurality of camera pairs, and to adjust the video signal delay amount between at least one said camera control unit and its respective camera head unit to be equal to a selected video signal delay amount of another said camera control unit and its respective camera head unit.

In a camera section, a luminance signal and the predetermined hue gate signal are modulated by a modulator in a quadrature modulation manner and the modulated signal is transmitted to a camera control unit via a cable. The modulated signal is separated by a branching filter in the unit and demodulated by a demodulator to generate the luminance signal and the detection signal. A signal to which the luminance signal and the detection signal are added, is used as a monitor video signal and a white image is displayed on a monitor screen within a range for the detection signal. Thus, the range detection signal can be observed with the monitor screen. Since the unit uses the added signal as the monitor video signal and the luminance signal for another purpose, the range of the detection signal can be observed by the monitor screen while using the luminance signal for another purpose.

A video camera system is composed of a camera head unit having an imager and a microphone, a camera control unit connected to the camera head unit through a coaxial cable for controlling the camera head unit, and a microphone for transmitting an output signal through the coaxial cable to the camera control unit. According to this video camera system, a noise component entered the camera control unit from the camera head unit can be reduced, two communication systems can be independently utilized, and a noise component in the coaxial cable can be reduced considerably. In addition, it becomes possible to widen a dynamic range.
