Fuel reservoir apparatus can maintain and control pressure within a fuel tank at a low level during an operation of an engine, and also can prevent excessive refuelling. The fuel reservoir apparatus includes the fuel tank, a canister, a fuel vapor passage, a positive pressure valve, a solenoid valve, and a closure valve. The fuel tank stores liquid fuel to be supplied to the engine of an automobile. The canister can adsorb the fuel vapor. The fuel vapor passage connects the fuel tank to the canister. The positive pressure valve is provided in the fuel vapor passage for controlling pressure within the fuel tank, using a spring force. The solenoid valve is provided in the fuel vapor passage and adapted for opening during the operation of the engine to flow the fuel vapor towards the canister. The closure valve is provided in the fuel vapor passage for closing the fuel vapor passage when fuel is supplied to the fuel tank.

Fuel reservoir apparatus

In a fuel vapor processing device for transferring fuel vapor from a fuel tank to a canister when fuel is fed into the fuel tank through a fuel fill pipe or when the pressure in the fuel tank is raised to a predetermined value, a pressure given through the fuel fill pipe is applied to one side of a first diaphragm valve body forming a first diaphragm valve while a pressure given through a fuel tank passageway is applied to the other side thereof, so that, when the pressure in the fuel tank passageway is increased while fuel is being supplied into the fuel tank, a first communicating hole is opened; and the atmospheric pressure is applied to one side of a second diaphragm valve body forming a second diaphragm valve while a pressure given through the fuel tank passageway is applied to the other side, so that when the pressure in the fuel tank becomes higher than the atmospheric pressure by a predetermined value a second communicating hole is opened. Thus, in both cases, the fuel vapor formed in the fuel tank is moved to the canister.

Fuel vapor processing device

A liquid fuel storage device is provided for use with an automobile system including an engine, a fuel tank, and a canister for absorbing fuel vapor during refueling. The device includes an air bag disposed in the fuel tank and constructed and arranged to inflate to occupy a space in the fuel tank in accordance with an amount fuel remaining in the fuel tank. Piping structure communicates the fuel tank with the engine for inflating the air bag by reducing pressure in the fuel tank when the engine is started. An air introduction pipe communicates with the atmosphere and includes a first valve mechanism for introducing air into the air bag and prevents air from escaping from the air bag after inflation thereof. An air emission pipe includes a second valve mechanism, which is opened only in refueling to emit air in the air bag during refueling. The air emission pipe is connected to the canister.

Liquid fuel storage device

An evaporation loss control device provided with a polymer chamber filled with polymer absorbent, a charcoal chamber filled with charcoal, introduction and purging pipes for connecting the polymer chamber with a fuel tank and an engine intake passage, respectively, an air pipe for ventilation connected to the charcoal chamber, and a vapor passage, which has various forms. For example, the vapor passage may be formed in spiral to encircle the polymer chamber, or provided between the polymer and charcoal chambers, thus allowing the evaporated fuel to pass therethrough. The vapor passage is constructed to prevent the evaporated fuel trapped by the polymer absorbent from flowing into the charcoal chamber, and also to prevent the liquid fuel from being absorbed by the charcoal.

Evaporation loss control device

A cap with valve for positive pressure comprises a cap body installed to an aperture of a container such as a fuel tank or a radiator of an automobile, a partition wall formed within the cap body and extending from an inner circumferential surface in radial direction and having a first fluid flowing hole, and a valve for positive pressure disposed at upper side of the partition wall. A support plate is disposed at lower side of the partition wall within the cap body and provided with a second fluid flowing hole, and an auxiliary valve chamber is formed between the partition wall and the support plate. Within the auxiliary valve chamber, a stopper valve having specific gravity larger than that of liquid within the container and a float having specific gravity of the combined body with the stopper valve smaller than that of the liquid within the container are arranged at lower side of the first fluid flowing hole and movable up and down. When the container is reversed in upper and lower positions, the stopper valve is moved by own weight towards the partition wall thereby the first fluid flowing hole is closed. Also when the liquid level within the container rises, both the stopper valve and the float are floated, and the first fluid flowing hole is closed by the stopper valve. Consequently, the liquid within the container is prevented from passing through the first fluid flowing hole and flowing out of the container.
