A multiplex-packet band learning system and method wherein management of the transmission band of a trunk suitable for an actual packet communication amount can be established to contribute to efficient multiplex packet communication. The number of communication packets per unit time for each medium pattern corresponding one of combinations of call terminal attributes is measured for the trunk interface of each exchange, a normal distribution of the numbers of communication packets in actual communication is estimated on the basis of the measured number of communication packets per unit time for each medium pattern, and its estimated value is updatingly held as index data of permission or prohibition of a new call registration. The number of communication packets in the actual communication is measured at a terminal interface so that a terminal band table for the terminal interface has packet rates at which the terminal has been so far communicated, mean and variance values of the past packet rates are calculated on the basis of the actually measured number of communication packets, a normal distribution is estimated at packet rate estimation circuits PPLs of a controller with use of its measured statistical data, and it is judged whether the packet communication of a call requiring the registration to the corresponding trunk line is permitted or prohibited.

System and method for learning transmission band of multiplex packet

Packet communication is effected by variably setting a control priority on the basis of a call priority value set as a fixed value at the time of call setting as well as a packet priority value variably designated by a transmission packet during communication. While a packet priority is being designated in correspondence with the degree of importance of the packet, the relevant packet can be communicated with a truly desirable priority corresponding to that degree of importance, thereby contributing to the effective utilization of a memory resource in an exchange and a trunk transmission zone.

Method for controlling the communication priority of communication

An exchange route decision system and method which, when it is desired to realize tandem connection between outgoing and incoming communication terminals of various sorts and multiple rates requiring immediate data communication through a plurality of exchanges, take the residual capacities of relay lines between the outgoing and incoming terminals into consideration. In the system and method, the residual capacities of the relay lines between the outgoing and incoming terminals are divided into a plurality of classes based on predetermined line capacity units, data on routes providing minimum costs in association with the classes are controlled. Boundary values of each of the classes are separately controlled at residual-line-capacity increasing and decreasing sides. Updating operation of the route data in association with the classes takes place only when a change in the residual line capacity exceeds the capacity increasing or decreasing boundary value of the class.

Exchange route decision system and method

A congestion avoidance control system and method for a communication network for determining one of routes between a plurality of communication terminals connected to a plurality of exchanges in turn interconnected by a plurality of lines to establish a tandem connection while relieving call congestion to a specific exchange and minimizing the occurrence of cell loss. For each of the relay lines, a resistive value indicative of a reciprocal of a ratio of a relay line residual capacity to an intra-network line full capacity is set and multiplied by a relay line load value to obtain a route load value of the relay line to prepare an output-line residual-capacity minimum-cost vector table. Further, an application data to be issued from an outgoing terminal includes a cost value allowable for communication route between the outgoing and incoming terminals, in which case each of the exchanges selects one of the routes forming minimum cost lines of maximum one of line residual capacity classes satisfying a request use capacity issued from the outgoing terminal and having a minimum cost value in an allowable cost range of the application data issued from the outgoing terminal. Furthermore, the application data to be issued from the outgoing terminal includes a terminal priority level set for the outgoing terminal of the incoming exchange, in which case each of the exchanges has a line T level table in which possible or impossible call registration is stored for line residual capacities with respect to each line and terminal priority level and selects one of the route forming minimum cost lines of the line residual capacity classes associated with the terminal priority level.
