A damper disc assembly having multiple embodiments. In one embodiment, spring seats are arranged at opposite ends of coil springs disposed between a power input rotary member and a power output rotary member. Each spring seat has a contacting surface with mutually perpendicular slanting portions. In another embodiment, a modified spring seat determines a phase or orientation of the power input rotary member with respect to the power output rotary member. In a third embodiment, a friction element is formed of resin and includes a friction adjusting element. The body portion of the friction element is made of resin and includes a friction generating surface that contacts a side surface of the sub-plate. The fiction adjusting element is provided in the friction generating surface of the body portion by molding and modifies the friction coefficient thereof. In a fourth embodiment, the friction element has a coating applied to a friction surface which modifies the friction coefficient.

A pair of spring seats (,) are used at opposite ends of a small coil spring (,) disposed between a power input rotary member and a power output rotary member. Each spring seat (,) includes a receiving side surface for receiving the spring and a contacting surface (,). Each contacting surface (,) is formed with four slanting surfaces that slant inward toward a central portion of the contacting surface. The intersections of the four slanting surfaces of each spring seat define two intersecting V-shaped grooves (,). The power input rotary member and the power output rotary member contact respective portions of one of the V-shaped grooves (,) of each spring seat. Engagement between the rotary members and the engaged V-shaped grooves restricts movement of the spring seats (,).

Damper disc assembly having non-rotatable spring seats

In one embodiment, a pair of spring seats (32) are intended for use at opposite ends of a small coil spring (6) disposed between a power input rotary member and a power output rotary member. Each spring seat (32) includes a receiving side surface for receiving a respective end of the small coil spring and a contacting surface (36). The contacting surface (36) is formed with slanting portions (37, 38) with V-shaped cross section, mutually perpendicular to one another. The power input rotary member and the power output rotary member contact a respective slanting section of one of the slanting portions (37, 38). In another embodiment, a spring seat (40) is provided with a first support portion (43) and a second support portion (44) such that the orientation of the spring seat (40) determines a phase or orientation of the power input rotary member with respect to the power output rotary member. In a third embodiment, a friction element is formed of resin and includes a friction adjusting element (20). The body portion (15a) of the friction element is made of resin and includes a friction generating surface contactable to the side surface of a sub-plate (5). The fiction adjusting element (20) is provided in the friction generating surface of the body portion (15a) by molding and is intended for modifying the friction coefficient thereof.

Damper disc assembly having spring seats for changing a phase

In one embodiment, a pair of spring seats (32) are used at opposite ends of a small coil spring (6) disposed between a power input rotary member and a power output rotary member. Each spring seat (32) includes a receiving side surface for receiving the small coil spring and a contacting surface (36). The contacting surface (36) is formed with slanting portions with V-shaped cross sections (37, 38) mutually perpendicular. The power input rotary member and the power output rotary member each contact a respective slanting section of one of the slanting portions. In another embodiment, a spring seat (40) is provided with a first support portion (43) and a second support portion (44) such that the orientation of the spring seat (40) determines a phase or orientation of the power input rotary member with respect to the power output rotary member. In a third embodiment, a friction element is formed of resin and includes a friction adjusting element (20). The friction adjusting element (20) is provided in the friction generating surface of the body portion (15a) of the friction element by molding and is intended for modifying the friction coefficient thereof. In a fourth embodiment, a first friction element (14) includes a friction generating surface having a coefficient of friction which differs from that of a friction generating surface of a second friction element (15).

A clutch disc assembly (1) includes a hub (2), a separate flange (5), a retaining plate (3), a clutch plate (4), a first bushing (16), a second bushing (18) and a third bushing (20). The first bushing (16) is disposed between the hub (2) and the retaining plate (3) and slidably moves against them. The second bushing (18) has a friction coefficient different from that of the first bushing (16). The second bushing (18) is disposed between the separate flange (5) and the retaining plate (3) and slidably moves against them. The friction coefficient of a portion facing to the hub (2) of the third bushing (20) is substantially identical with that of the first bushing (16), while the friction coefficient of a portion facing to the separate flange (5) of the third bushing (20) is identical with that of the second bushing (18). The third bushing (20) is disposed between the hub (2), the separate flange (5), and the clutch plate 4, and slidably moves against them.

An intermediate plate positioning mechanism for a twin clutch equipped with an annular intermediate plate inside a clutch cover. In this mechanism; a hole piercing in an axial direction is made on an outer peripheral part of the intermediate plate, a slide member is disposed in the hole, a first coil spring is compressedly installed between the slide member and a flywheel, a second coil spring is compressedly installed between the slide member and a pressure plate, a friction load between the slide member and an inner peripheral surface of the hole is settled within a region where the slide member slides along the hole in an axial direction when a difference between spring loads of the both coil springs becomes larger than a prescribed setting value at a time of clutch engagement, and stops at a position at which loads of both springs become equivalent, and at the same time the friction load is settled within a region where the slide member moves integrally with the intermediate plate at a time of clutch disengagement.

A damper is attached to a diaphragm spring in a clutch. The diaphragm spring includes a portion supported by a fulcrum which is rigidly connected to a flywheel, a portion connected to a pressure plate for pressing a clutch disc onto a flywheel, a portion adapted to connect to a release bearing, a plurality of radial slits extending from the inner periphery of the spring to the radially middle portion thereof and a plurality of radial fingers circumferentially divided by the slits. The damper includes a vibration damper member made from nonmetallic material and attached to said fingers. The damper member may have an annular shape extending along the diaphragm spring and be seated on surfaces of the fingers.

A hydraulic dampened clutch plate having a hub, a hub flange, a friction disc plate and pins on the hub flange and disc plate spaced radially outwardly from the hub and spaced equally circumferentially around the hub, the pins on the flange and disc plate being joined by a cylinder and piston, the cylinder being fluid tight and the piston having a valve there in, divides the cylinder into two chambers, the piston valve interconnecting the chambers to dampening vibration or the piston moves in and out of the cylinder because of relative movement between the hub flange and the disc plate.

A damper disc used as a clutch disc of a friction clutch includes a spline hub splined to an output shaft and having a radial flange, a pair of annular side plates arranged at both sides of the flange and having a radially outer portion to which torque is transmitted, and torsion springs arranged at openings in the flange and the side plates. At least some of the torsion springs consist of coaxially arranged double compressible coil springs including a diametrically large outer spring and a diametrically small inner spring. Each of these small springs is hourglass-shaped so that their diameters gradually change along their length and their axially middle portions have the smallest diameters. A damper disc applicable to a clutch disc comprising a hub flange; a pair of annular side plates; a pair of annular sub-plates disposed between the side plates and the flange; stud pins connecting the subplates together; recesses formed at middle portions of the side edges of the openings in the flange, each stud pin passing through each recess with a space corresponding to a torsion angle for first hysteresis torque between the stud pin and the side edge of the recess; stop pins connecting the radially outer portions of the side plates together; notches formed at outer edges of the openings in the flange, each stop pin passing through each notch with a space corresponding to a maximum torsion angle between the stop pin and the side edge of the notch; and thereby, a maximum torsion angle can be set large, and the sub-plates can operate stably.
