The method includes receiving a textual statement and identifying a plurality of terms in the textual statement that are to be visualized in the visual representation. The method includes generating a plurality of sequences of images where each image in a given one of the sequences is associated with one of the terms. Each image is associated with at least one tag. The method includes determining a global coherence and a local coherence for each of the sequences based on the tags of the images. The method includes selecting one of the sequences based on the global coherence and the local coherence. The method includes generating the visual representation where the images of the selected sequence are included.

A combination of knowledge representation and retrieval, assessments and personalization for a tutoring platform that provides an automated phased word exposition method for vocabulary learning and enable learners to learn words (or any learning objective) with sufficient proficiency and without excessive repetition. The phased learning objective method implements a moving average model that models the learner across multiple dimensions (e.g. reading, listening, writing, speaking) such that the platform is confident of the learner's understanding, while using minimal assessment doses, and such that the understanding transfers across experiences. The method implemented provides for multiple learning and assessment activities for a learning objective and leverages the same learner model for each learning dimension. Each word of a word set passes through learning and assessment-only phases for statistically significant evidence of learning. The model derived from the phased word expansion can be shared across applications, toys and tangibles that learners interact with.

A set of concrete words is determined based upon a comparison of the concreteness score for each word and a predetermined threshold. A grammatical dependency relationship is determined between the one or more words of the sentence. One or more subsets of search terms is determined based upon the grammatical dependency relationship. Each member of the one or more subsets of search terms is a member of the set of concrete words. One or more images is retrieved from a repository based on the one or more subsets of search terms.

A scene and a set of objects within the scene of an image are identified by performing image processing on the image. The set of objects is stored in a cluster labeled by the scene. Instructions are transmitted to install the initial data cube and the one or more of the sets of data into an electronic device that has been predetermined to be related to the user-specified subject-matter, the installation improves a functioning of the electronic device by modifying an operation of the electronic device.
