The present invention relates to a heat transfer recording medium in which a substrate has items of information such as an image and characters formed on a surface thereof by heat transfer and a transparent protective layer is provided on at least a part of the surface of the thus recorded information through an adhesive layer, if required, characterized in that the adhesive layer and/or protective layer function to provide security against counterfeiting. Combining information recorded by heat transfer with a function to provide security against counterfeiting, the present invention provides greater security against falsifying or counterfeiting.

Heat transfer recording media

The present invention relates to a heat transfer recording medium in which a substrate has items of information such as an image and characters formed on the surface thereof by heat transfer and a transparent protective layer is provided on at least a part of the surface of the thus recorded information through an adhesive layer, if required, characterized in that the adhesive layer and/or protective layer function to provide security against counterfeiting. Combining information recorded by heat transfer with a function to provide security against counterfeiting, the present invention provides greater security against falsifying or counterfeiting.

The present invention relates to an image-receiving sheet used in combination with a heat transfer sheet having a dye layer containing a dye which is melted or sublimated by heating and passed onto said image-receiving sheet, characterized in that a sheet-like substrate (11) includes on its surface a dye-receiving layer (12) for receiving a dye coming from said heat transfer sheet, said dye-receiving layer (12) comprising a copolymer obtained by the copolymerization of (i) vinyl chloride, (ii) an acrylic acid type monomer and (iii) a linear polymer having a vinyl group at an end. The present sheet of such a structure as mentioned above is improved in terms of dyeability and weather-resistance-after-printing, and excels particularly in the storability of printed images.

The dye receiving sheet for preparation of a transparency according to the present invention is a sheet to be used in combination with a heat transfer sheet having a dye layer formed thereon and includes (2) a transparent substrate, (3) a transparent receiving layer provided on the transparent substrate for receiving the dye migrating from the heat transfer sheet corresponding to the energy applied from a thermal head and (5) an optically detectable layer provided on at least a part of the heat transferable sheet. By the provision of the optically detectable layer (5), improvement of running performance, operability within a heat-sensitive device as well as image density and sensitivity during printing can be attained, and also a detection mark can be freely added, whereby operability of the dye receiving sheet can be further improved.

Dye receiving sheet for preparation of a transparency

An image-receiving sheet for thermal transfer printing comprising on a substrate an intermediate layer made primarily of a resin insoluble in organic solvents, and an image-receiving layer made primarily of a resin soluble in organic solvents and formed on the intermediate layer. This type of sheet is significantly improved in smoothness and blocking properties, enabling one to obtain print images of a very high quality, by thermal transfer printing, which are substantially free from the known problem relating to a missing transfer portion and which are high in the optical density for images as printed.
