A door beam includes: an upper inner flange; a lower inner flange; an outer flange; an upper rib; and a lower rib. A thickness of the outer flange is larger than a thickness of the upper inner flange and a thickness of the lower inner flange. A thickness of the upper rib becomes gradually larger from the outer flange toward the upper inner flange, and a thickness of the lower rib becomes gradually larger from the outer flange toward the lower inner flange.

Door beam

A bumper reinforcement includes a front wall, a rear wall, and a connection wall. Intermediate portions, in an extending direction, of the front wall and the rear wall are parallel to each other. An end portion, in the extending direction, of the front wall is bent toward the rear wall when viewed from the intermediate portion of the front wall. An end portion, in the extending direction, of the connection wall includes a front part and a rear part, and each of the front and rear parts extends from an inside to an outside in the vehicle width direction. A distance between a front end of the rear part and the rear wall gradually decreases in a direction from a base end of the rear part toward a distal end thereof. The front part is provided so as to extend along the front end of the rear part.

A bumper reinforcement includes a body part extending in a vehicle width direction, and a terminal part, which extends in the vehicle width direction, is attached to an end part of the body part in a longitudinal direction, and is joined to the body part in a state of being superimposed on the end part of the body part. Vehicle radiator apparatus

A bumper device for a vehicle is arranged on one of a front side and a rear side of a vehicle cabin to extend in a vehicle width direction. The bumper device for a vehicle includes: a tubular portion, which is made of metal and integrally formed so as to have a tubular shape extending in the vehicle width direction; and a reinforcing member, which is formed so as to have a plate-like shape extending in the vehicle width direction along an inner surface of the tubular portion. A foamed resin charged into the tubular portion is foamed to be increased in volume, to thereby fix the reinforcing member inside the tubular portion.

A tubular-shaped shock absorbing member arranged at a side end portion of a vehicle, includes outer and inner wall portions each extending in a vehicle height direction and a vehicle front-and-rear direction, the inner wall portion being arranged on a center portion side of the vehicle, an upper wall portion connected to upper end portions of the inner and outer wall portions, a lower wall portion connected to lower end portions of the inner and outer wall portions, and a horizontal rib connected to the inner and outer wall portions. A distance between the upper and lower wall portions is decreased as approaching from the inner wall portion side to the outer wall portion side. A thickness of a part of the horizontal rib connected to the outer wall portion, is larger than a thickness of a part of the horizontal rib connected to the inner wall portion.

Shock absorbing member

A shock absorbing member provided between a side member extending in a front-rear direction of a vehicle and a bumper reinforcement extending in a vehicle width direction and provided at the side member, includes: a shock absorbing portion, which extends in the front-rear direction of the vehicle and is supported by the side member and which is configured to absorb an impact caused by a load by being compressed in the front-rear direction of the vehicle when the load is applied to the bumper reinforcement in at least one of a forward direction and a backward direction; and a bumper reinforcing portion, which extends from an end portion side closer to the side member in the impact absorbing portion toward a vehicle-width-direction outside and a bumper reinforcement side and which reinforces the vehicle-width-direction end portion side of the bumper reinforcement.

A vehicle bumper apparatus includes a bumper reinforcement member formed to have a hollow cross section and including a vehicle interior portion formed to have an open cross section including an opening, and a crush box supporting the bumper reinforcement member to mount the bumper reinforcement member to a side member of a vehicle body, the crush box including a connecting portion arranged at a vehicle exterior portion, the connecting portion closing the opening of the bumper reinforcement member to restrict the opening from being expanded, and a retaining portion protruding from the connecting portion toward an exterior side of a vehicle to retain the bumper reinforcement member.

Vehicle bumper apparatus and crush box thereof

A shock absorber includes a cylindrical small diameter portion, a cylindrical large diameter portion, and an annular step portion that connects the small diameter portion and the large diameter portion to each other. The shock absorber absorbs load applied thereto through plastic deformation that starts at the annular step portion thereby absorbing impact energy. In the deformation, the small diameter portion is folded back into the large diameter portion. The large diameter portion has protrusions, which extend in the axial direction and protrude radially outward. Therefore, the shock absorber stabilizes turning deformation and is capable of efficiently absorbing impact energy. A bumper device for a vehicle is also provided.

A crush box arranged between a side member of a vehicle body and a bumper reinforcement member, the crush box including: a main body portion arranged in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle and formed in a tubular shape, the main body portion having first and second portions; a vehicle body attaching portion arranged at a first end of the main body portion; and a bumper attaching portion arranged at a second end of the main body portion, wherein vertical cross-sections of both the first portion adjacent to the vehicle body attaching portion and the second portion adjacent to the bumper attaching portion are polygonal shapes, and the number of vertices of the polygonal shape of the vertical cross-section of the second portion is greater than the number of vertices of the polygonal shape of the vertical cross-section of the first portion.

Crush box and vehicle bumper apparatus including the same

A bumper reinforcement includes a front wall portion, an upper wall portion, and a lower wall portion. The front wall portion constitutes the front portion of the bumper reinforcement. The upper wall portion constitutes the upper half of the rear portion of the bumper reinforcement. The lower wall portion, connected to the lower edge of the front wall portion, constitutes the lower half of the rear portion. Outer grooves, formed by denting the front wall portion rearward, extend along the vehicle width direction. Upper grooves, formed by denting downward a top wall of the upper wall portion, are located intermittently along the width direction and extend in the longitudinal direction. The lower wall portion comprises a bottom wall constituting the bottom of the lower wall portion.
