A robotic catheter procedure system includes a bedside system that has a percutaneous device, and an actuating mechanism configured to engage and to impart movement to the percutaneous device. The system also includes a workstation coupled to the bedside system. The workstation includes a user interface configured to receive a user input, ma display device configured to display an image, a control system operatively coupled to the user interface and the actuating mechanism. The control system is configured to generate a control signal and the actuating mechanism causes movement of the percutaneous device in response to the control signal. The control system is configured to slow movement of the percutaneous device via the actuating mechanism as an identified point on the percutaneous device approaches a structure requiring a change in direction of the percutaneous device.

Robotic catheter system with variable speed control

A catheter procedure system including a bedside system and a remote workstation is provided. The bedside system includes a catheter including an expandable percutaneous intervention device, a robotic catheter system configured to move the catheter, and an inflation device configured to cause expansion of the expandable percutaneous intervention device. The remote workstation includes a user interface configured to receive a at least first user input and a second user input and a control system operatively coupled to the user interface for remotely controlling both the robotic catheter system and the inflation device. The remote workstation includes a monitor configured to display information related to the expandable percutaneous intervention device. The control system controls the robotic catheter system to move the catheter based upon at least the first user input and controls the inflation device to cause expansion of the expandable percutaneous intervention device based upon at least the second user input.

Remote catheter procedure system

A method for controlling x-ray frame rate of an imaging system for a catheter procedure system includes generating a first control signal that indicates a first frame rate and providing the first control signal to an imaging system. The imaging system obtains a first set of images at the first frame rate based on the first control signal. At least one parameter of a catheter procedure performed by the catheter procedure system is determined and a second control signal is generated based on the at least one parameter of the catheter procedure. The second control signal indicates a second frame rate. The second control signal is provides to the imaging system to adjust the first frame rate to the second frame rate. The imaging system obtains a second set of images at the second frame rate and displays the second set of images on a display.

System and method for controlling x-ray frame rate of an imaging system

A robotic catheter procedure system for performing a procedure to treat a vascular lesion including a bedside system and a remote workstation is provided. The bedside system includes a first percutaneous device including an end section, the end section structured to allow the first percutaneous device to create a bore through the vascular lesion. The bedside system includes a second percutaneous device. The bedside system also includes a first actuating mechanism configured to engage and to impart movement to the first percutaneous device and a second actuating mechanism configured to engage and to impart movement to the second percutaneous device. The remote workstation includes a user interface and a control system operatively coupled to the user interface and to the bedside system. The control system controlling the first actuating mechanism to cause movement of the first percutaneous device to create a bore through the lesion and the second actuating mechanism to cause movement of the second percutaneous device through the bore created by the first percutaneous device.

A catheter procedure system includes a bedside system having a guide wire, a guide wire advance/retract actuator coupled to the guide wire and a guide wire rotate actuator coupled to the guide wire and a workstation coupled to the bedside system. The workstation includes a user interface, at least one display and a controller coupled to the bedside system, the user interface and the at least one display. The controller is programmed to advance the guide wire through a path using the guide wire advance/retract actuator, wherein the guide wire is rotated a predetermined amount.

System and method for navigating a guide wire

A robotic catheter procedure system is provided. The robotic catheter procedure system includes a bedside system and a remote workstation. The bedside system includes a percutaneous device and a drive mechanism configured to engage and to impart an axial force to the percutaneous device and to advance and retract the percutaneous device. The bedside system includes an actuator providing torque to the drive mechanism to impart the axial force to the percutaneous device, and the torque provided by the actuator is variable. The remote workstation includes a user interface configured to receive a first user input and a control system operatively coupled to the user interface. The control system is configured to communicate a control signal to the actuator. The control signal is based upon the first user input and a second input, and the actuator provides torque to the drive mechanism in response to the control signal.

A remote workstation for the control of percutaneous intervention devices is provided. The remote workstation includes a control system for remotely and independently controlling at least two percutaneous intervention devices. The control system includes at least one input device to control the percutaneous intervention devices. The remote workstation also includes a graphical user interface for displaying icons representative of the operational status of each of the percutaneous intervention devices.

A method for navigating a guide wire during a catheter procedure, the method includes changing the direction of a distal portion of the guide wire to advance past a junction in a desired path by rotating a proximal end of the guide wire a predetermined amount while the guide wire is being retracted to a point before the junction and then advancing the distal end of the guide wire past the junction through the desired path.

A robotic catheter procedure system for performing a procedure including a bedside system and a remote workstation is provided. The control system controlling the first actuating mechanism to cause movement of the first percutaneous device to create a bore through the lesion and the second actuating mechanism to cause movement of the second percutaneous device through the bore created by the first percutaneous device.

A robotic catheter system includes a cassette including a housing, a first pair of engagement surfaces, and a second pair of engagement surfaces. The housing includes a front end, a rear end, a sidewall, a first channel, and a second channel. The first pair of engagement surfaces are arranged to contact a guide wire with sufficient pressure such that when the engagement surfaces are driven, axial movement is imparted to the guide wire. The guide wire extends along the first channel, through the rear end of the housing, and through the front end of the housing. The second pair of engagement surfaces are arranged to contact a catheter with sufficient pressure such that when the engagement surfaces are driven, axial movement is imparted to the catheter. The catheter device extends along the second channel, the second channel arranged at an angle with respect to the first channel.

A catheter procedure system includes a bedside system having a guide wire, a guide wire advance/retract actuator coupled to the guide wire and a guide wire rotate actuator coupled to the guide wire and a workstation coupled to the bedside system. The workstation includes a user interface, at least one display and a controller coupled to the bedside system, the user interface and the at least one display. The controller is programmed to advance the guide wire through a path using the guide wire advance/retract actuator, determine if the guide wire is in a desired path based at least on at least one image of a region of interest, rotate the guide wire using the guide wire rotate actuator if the guide wire is not in the desired path, wherein the guide wire is rotated a predetermined amount, and retract the guide wire using the guide wire advance/retract actuator. The steps of advancing the guide wire and retracting and rotating the guide wire using guide wire advance/retract actuator and the guide wire rotate actuator are repeated until the guide wire is in the desired path. The guide wire is advanced to a desired position using the guide wire advance/retract actuator.
